Please help. I am about to tear my hair out with my fussy, fussy child!
She used to be a great eater. Loved all healthy food including a large range of veges and meat, but in the past few months has basically refused anything resembling a evening meal.

She eats pretty well during the day, usually muesli or porridge for breakfast and fruit, crackers, sandwiches etc for lunch. The problem comes at dinner time. She would happily eat the same as lunch or breakfast again, but absolutely flatly refuses to eat any kind of meat or vegetables.
I have tried hiding them, pureeing them into other things, making fritters with veges (which by the way do not translate well minus the egg - ick!) but no luck at all.
Keeping in mind she is allergic to eggs and intolerant to milk her options are sort of limited anyway.

Can anyone give me any hints or tips to get some meat and veges into my child. She won't do pasta (unless you count watties spaghetti - which I don't!) or rice either! UGH!!!! She basically refuses to try anything new.    I sort of feel that she is probably a bit young to go to bed without dinner, but we do still give her a bottle before bed anyway which fills up any gaps left after her non-dinner!

Is there any way you can switch her meals around and have dinner at lunch time and something less formal for at dinner time? (not possible if Sam is in daycare). It maybe that she is really tired and so just refuses to co-operate at dinner time so if you can get meat and vegies in at lunch, them dinner is not so stressful .

We also tried stuff like lamb and beef chips which are a good source of iron and protein. Just cook them straight from frozen on an oven tray.

I would keep offering stuff but if she does not eat it then I wouldn't give in to giving her a sandwich to fill her up. As you say she is getting milk at bedtime anyway. She won't starve herself but she is almost 2 and she could just be starting to assert herself and trying to control things. This is not something you want to get into a fight over but also make sure that you have the "upper hand". You are the parent.

We are having a similar issue with DS but he is now in DC so has a hot meal (so his main meal) at lunch and then finger foods for dinner.

This is working well and he apparently eats everything at lunch time so wonder if he was tired and grumpy at night.

Hope that helps.

Just wanted to say I understand. I've tried every type of food - even things I wouldn't usually buy like fish fingers and chicken nuggets but Elle doesn't eat them. On a good day we may get 1 nugget in but definitely no other meat. I've tried offering it at lunch, taking away snacks...nothing seems to work for us. I figure I just have to keep providing the right choices and wait until she is old enough to reason with.

Thanks for your suggestions   Fiona I am the same, just keep offering the good stuff and if she won't eat it then she goes hungry.
I feel bad, but what else can i do.
Last night I did her some spaghetti noodles with veges, mince & pasta sauce which she has happily eaten in the past, but she wouldn't even touch it (except to feed it to one of her little people!). I gave her 15 minutes then asked if she was going to eat it and she said no, so I put her down from the table.
She seemed happy enough but did wake several times during the night asking for crackers! Ratbag!

Sam won't eat fish fingers, nuggets anything like that either!
I think she is asserting herself as well.
It probably doesn't help at the moment as she has the last set of molars coming through - Ugh!

Well I will just keeping plodding on and doing the mean Mummy routine at dinner time every night
