Hi,
Even being married with a hubby who works 7 days a week you can feel like a single mum! Most of the time I'm happy as I love having my little one all to myself!

Hi JadeyMum & Welcome to OhBaby!
My names Steph, I'm 21 yo (22 this year) and I have a wee chap by the name of Lucas, he will be 2 years old in a week!
We're flying solo, have been on my own since I was a couple months preggy and his father decided to bugger off overseas. I actually really enjoy being a single mother though, and to be honest I wouldn't have it any other way atm. I'm enjoying the time on my own and being able to focus 100% on Lucas.
Would be nice to converse with other single mums

 Hi,
Yeah i love being a single mum,as you dont have to share cuddles etc, but it does have its up and downs, i found it hard during the beginning as I was BF and my son was feeding every hour, so i did found it hard not having that extra bit of help, or even somebody to get up with me
Has anybody found that its hard to get into a relationship because you have a child?
Thats what im scared of, finding a man that would love my boy!!

Yes it would be also cool to have somebody to share everything with as well, Like when babys moving, kicking, and also scans and MW appts
I shared things like that with my nan and dad and mates but i guess its not the same (plus i think they got sick of it after me telling them everytime baby kicked and all that )

I must admit i would have liked to have had a partner to share the amazing experience of scans and that sort of thing, and it was hard going to antenatal classes by myself when the other ladies had their partners with them.
Jadeybabe i agree it is very hard with the whole BF thing aye. My lil princess eats every 1-2 hours and sometimes i wish i just had someone to keep my company, or help me with the housework or sit up with me at night. I do have a super supportive mum however and shes good with giving me a break so i do get some me time to have a shower or whatever lol! I dunno what id do without her.
I worry about that, finding a nice guy who likes Lily and isnt put off by raising someone elses kid. Im sure there must be men out there!

I'm not a single mum anymore, I was when Maya was a baby, until she was nearly two when her dad and I got back together. I definitely agree with Caitlynsmygirl, Maya and I have such an awesome relationship coz there was just us for so long.

I must be pretty hard case, I loved going to antenatal classes on my own lol, so much so that a guy friend accompanied me the first night and he got so into it that I had to tell him I didn't want him coming anymore ...he was pretty gutted, but I loved doing it on my own.
If anything I feel empowered, being on my own with child has taught me so much and made me stronger as a person, and along with Maya & Caitlynsmygirl I agree- Lucas & I do have a very tightnknit bond, he isn't just my child ...he is a part of me now.
The breastfeeding thing never really phased me, or the getting up at night - we breastfed up until 23.5 months (roughly 2-3 weeks ago)...he was still waking 2-3 times a night at that age, he's only started sleeping through with the weaning ....and we co-sleep in the same bed. I guess I got used to it after a while, but I LOVED breastfeeding, now that bond alone was wicked! I miss it incredibly, but it was time to let it go.
And as for meeting a lovely guy that will accept you and your child for who you are - package deal I call it , I wouldn't worry too much. Someone is likely to come along when you least expect it, there are decent guys out there ....in amongst all the dead-beats ...people tell me. I'm yet to see it, I guess I'm not ready to get back on that horse yet, I'm quite happy and fulfilled with it just being Lucas & I ...pretty set in my ways huh?
