Topic: Washing new MCNs Posted: 30 April 2009 at 5:09pm |
I have a couple of fuzzi's and an itti bitti that I have just washed to start using on Jake now that his bum will fit in them (I think).
I know that they need a few washes before they reach their full absorbency, but how many washes should I do before I can use them???

I only washed my nappies once and so far no leaks. They have now had a few washes.
Try just one wash and see how it goes...its all trial and error.

Its only the hemp and bamboo that needs several washes to reach full absorbancy as far as I know.

Your Fuzzi should only need one wash, the Itti Bitti probably about 6 washes to reach full absorbency. But I've been using Max's Itti Bittis on him from new without prewashing and we haven't had any leaks. I just know they'll get more absorbent with time

hehe.. im with you ladies about getting excited! I only have 5 small honeychild naps for Novella ATM and can't wait till she fits into her mediums!
DH finds it a relief that I love using them after forking out $800 for them - I suppose I find it a relief as well
And re. washing - I did it 3 times before using and have never had any leaks - thats a big relief

Gosh the inserts take AGES to dry!!!! I just want to put one on him. I love cloth bums. I think the Fuzzi is going to win the race.. mind you I only have one insert for them. Really need to sort that out, but he is still little and doesnt seem to be a huge wetter at the moment.
DH and I are going to the expo tomorrow, I am hoping they will have some deals going.
Will have to post a pic of Jake in his first cloth nappy

It's true that Fuzzis dry WAY quicker than Itti Bittis but they aren't anywhere near as absorbent. If you have a light wetter then it won't be a problem for you, but when Jake gets older you might find you need to boost them. Out of interest, do you have the snap-in or AIO version of the Itti Bitti? I prefer the AIO as it's much less fiddly and the fit is nicer (softer) without all the folded insert bits.
