A few random questions
Just wondering how everyone started preparing their bodies for TTC. Did you cut out the things on 'no-eat' list for pregnant women like coffee or are you waiting until you are pregnant for stuff like that?
I am also quite confused with all the multi vitamin options and wondering if it is worth going to a Naturopath to get them recomend some to me. My SIL took Elevit but it seems awfully expensive and I wonder if I could get the same benefits from other less expensive options?

Turtle, I have no plans to chnage my eating treating habits until i get BFp then alcohol will be a no go zone and i will make sure any deli meats i have are heated to piping hot that about all i'm doing.
As for the pills you can get folic acid at the chemist or from the doctor for really cheap.
Do a search on here as this topic has been discussed in some length at various times

I got hideous morning sickness for the whole 9 months last time so I'm taking B vitamins. I'm already off coffee and I just make sure I eat balanced meals. Good to get in the habit early.

I took Apo-folic tablets for 3 months before TTC, kept eating as I normally do, and got the blood test to check my immunity levels for Ruebella were good. Once we were trying I just cut out alcohol for the two weeks of the month that you are either trying or waiting to see if AF arrives. Then when I found out I was pregnant (1 day after AF due) I started to cut out the unsafe foods.

I switched to decaf everything and was taking the Thompsons pregnancy multi and extra folic acid. Swapped to Elevit when I got the BFP.
Its a good idea to go to the drs and get your rubella checked out and they can prescribe the FA for you (heaps cheaper than buying at the supermarket)
I did cut back the booze leading up to AF being due (just in case)

Hi Turtle,
You might think that I am being a bit ott, but this is what I have included in my diet :
Folic acid, vitamin B6 for increased progesterone, grapefruit juice for ewcm prior to ovulation, pineapple juice after ovulation for implantation, pumpkin and sunflower seeds for extra nutrients.
I have limited coffee to one cup in the morning, no alcohol and no smoking.

I've read on multiple sites that pineapple juice should be avoided while trying to conceive as it can cause an increase in miscarriage, so maybe stay away from that one..I will be

Well, I did a quick google and found heaps of sites where ttc'ers were drinking pineapple juice for implantation.
However, I did find some sites that say say that fresh pineapple can induce labour in late pregnancy but a very lot has to be eaten. But could not find a site that proves it.
Pineapple juice contains selenium, manganese and bromelain which is good for the endometrial lining.
So the jury is out there..... Pineapple Juice - Good or Bad for TTC?

Tauris75, I really dont think it would have been the pineapple juice. I'm really sorry I didnt mean to worry or upset anyone and I feel sick to my stomach.
The articles I read are from Dr Google and we all know that the info needs to be taken with a grain of salt if you know what I mean. From what I read its later on in the 1st trimester not right at the beginning. Really really sorry if I worried you. If pineapple juice really was that bad, Drs and specialists would be telling every one not to take it! I have never heard that from my specialist, he just told me to stop drinking alcohol, and reduce caffeine, it would be commonly told to all those TTC that it should be avoided.
I truely believe that it was dr google working against us and I prob should have written my response in more detail as to avoid confusion. Again so so sorry if I have caused any hurt or stress, i just wanted to get it out there that there was conflicting info on the net...

I'm sure its fine Mindy its good to share the different info everyone has then individuals can research things themselves
I've been looking at what my DP could take to help actually lol I'm putting us both on selenium and him on Vit C & E.
I'm also drinking organic white tea since I'm so not into green, doing pilates everyday and eating lots of fresh food.

No I looked at the flavoured green teas but I was too worried I wouldn't like it once I brought it lol I won't try it now we're TTC coz I've heard too much can poss cause neural defects and since I haven't found enough info to combat that I'm steering clear. My naturopath also says to avoid it if I'm not drinking it coz of the caffeine and uhm she mentioned something else which I've forgotten but I'll def give it a go after #2 is born
I'm getting my folic acid script tomorrow yay it's quite exciting!

hmm i have just put dh on a herbal supplement for stress i'm hoping it will help him feel more like bd when we decide to start trying. As for me i really should proberly start on folic acid soon since they really do reccomend it for 3 months before TTC.
