Topic: Lots of sex = less sperm?? Posted: 25 May 2009 at 8:21pm |
Is it true that the more we BD the less sperm DP produces?? I thought it was the other way around and I don't really wana google it coz I'll get all sorts coming up!
If we BD everyday will it be harder to get pregnant? Thats basically what I'm worried about.

Babe, I think that dp might produce less sperm because there is no chance for the sperm to build up, but I think it is quality not quantity that counts... and as they say "it only takes one sperm to make you pregnant"

If you read the Fertility Associates "Making Babies Books" it says that you can never do it too often!

I have been told by 2 different drs that every 2nd day is best because that way theres anough time to get a really good supply, and short anough so that they are nice and fresh

LMAO ok got it! Every second day is best but when ov'ing it can't hurt to go hard LOL scuse the pun
And only once every second day yeah? I guess doing it 2-3 times would have the same effect as doing it every day really. Thanks chicks

My doctor said it's better to BD every other day, same as what's been said already because it allows for new sperm to build up that is "better quality" (!!!). Also he said to my DH to cut down his own "private time", if you get what I mean . . . anyway worked for us, since we are officially 9 weeks 2 days pregnant as of today!

LMAO DP would be horrified at the idea of 'private time', I was keeping him busy enough
As it is we BD'd 7 days out of 10 bfor OVing and then I went completely off the idea which is a pretty good sign something worked lol being UTD is the only time I can't stand the idea of BDing and sure enough we're 4 weeks today

Congrats on the result!
But yes, sperm levels can take a day or two to build up again if they have been expended a lot! Naming specific days such as days 10-15 can be deceiving however, as not every woman has the same cycle and not every woman ovulates on day 14!! this is a big misconception! best way to identify when YOU are ovulating is to chart signs and symptoms of fertility - these will give you ample notice of when the right time is for you and your partner to go for it.
