Hi, I've been having contractions all week. Feels like bad period cramps with a constant back ache. Baby is engaged and ready to go. I always imagined labour would start and get established but it isn't happening that way! They are just enough to keep me awake so feeling pretty tired. Has anyone else experienced this?

Yep I did with Kobe. I remember saying to my friend on the weekend that I felt like I had my period, lots of the back ache and everything but just thought I was over doing it. Then on the monday had a little bleeding and my midwife meet me at the hospital only to discover my waters had been leaking for a while and I was already 3cm. Things stayed like that until the thursday when my hind waters broke and everything happened pretty quickly after that and Kobe was born Friday morning. What does your midwife say?

She said it could be anytime within the next week. I wasn't dilated on Tuesday but I have another appointment today so hopefully I've made some progress. Can't wait to meet my little girl!

I was like that. About two weeks before Taine was born, I had contractions that would come and go. Drove me and my family crazy as every night I would think "this is it", and then wake up the next morning and think "bugger".
But then my waters broke and he was born about three hours later.
Really incredibly annoying though.

Thanks everyone. Good to know I'm not the only one. Went to see my LMC. Haven't dilated at all! The hot water bottle has become my new best friend - guess I'm in for the long haul. Have a good Queen's birthday weekend.
