Topic: Best nappy rash treatment Posted: 23 June 2009 at 8:29pm |
HELP! My little girl has just got some nappy rash and a tiny bit of it is bleeding. She's 7mths old and just got her 3rd tooth, so I'm sure this is caused by teething. We use huggies nappies and go through about 8-10 nappies a day (so frequent nappy changes isn't the issue), and we've always used Mustela Vitamin Barrier Cream, which is the best cream ever. Before today, she's never had red bum or any sign of nappy rash, which makes me think this is caused by teething ....... anyhow, I'm really keen to know what nappy rash treatment I should revert to given that there a little bit of bleeding. Bubs doesn't seem upset about the nappy rash at all, or about the teething - she's a happy wee girl!!! Looking forward to your replies!! Thanks (in advance)!!

Hiya, I had the same problem when JJ first started teething. He was perfectly happy but yep it got bad enough to start bleeding. What worked really well was baking soda in his bath, as much nappy off time as you can manage (more difficult in this weather admittedly than it was for me in summer), and actually on the recommendation of someone on here I put ordinary old cornflour onto the weepy/bleeding nappy rash - dries it up and doesn't have anything in it that could irritate the broken skin etc. Good luck!

Can you visit a pharmacy and ask there? They may have something specific for broken skin.
Poor bubs, hope it clears up soon.

My midwife swears by the bepanthen nappy rash cream. It has served us well so far.. we have not had bleeding though.
The cornflour is a great idea!!!

I haven't experienced nappy rash yet myself but my friend who is a nurse who works with babies and children told me that the cornflour remedy works really well - I'd be giving that a go

We use cornflour... its great. We were given some natural baby powder called Gaia And it is just cornflour with lavender- its even better cos lavender is a natural antiseptic.
