Topic: Curtain Tracks Question! Posted: 24 June 2009 at 10:46am |
When you put up a curtain track, do you screw it to the wall above the window frame or do you screw it to the actual frame??
My nana says you screw it to thr frame, and that when she has had them hung professionaly that they did the same thing, but I always thought you screwed the track to the wall...and mum thought this too...
I think the pic in the instructions I have, that they ahve screwed it to the window frame..
Help please lol!

Mine are all screwed to the frame. I think unless you are putting in wall anchors, it would be much stronger on the frame..

Ok cool thanks
I think we will go with the wall, as thats what Ive always known and thought that they went.
I was a bit worried about them sticking out too far being on the frame.
Dad said I need to the find the wall studs and srew the brackets for the frame into those so thats its strongly attached, I have my brother over to help lol

We have always done it into the frame - mainly because the screw holes in the track don't necessarily always line up with the studs in the wall, and I guess also because it's the way Mum has always done it!!

We've just put new curtains up & we've done them to the wall. Your tracks should have hollow wall anchors with them. Little plastic bits that go into the hole first.
It depends on the type of curtains you have & the look you want to go for.
And yeah get someone else to do it LOL I was going to do it & then thought nah Hubby can do it.
eta: Don't buy the K2 type of curtain tracks. They may be cheaper initially but to buy extra bits they are twice the price & they don't fit & run as smoothly as the other type.

I fixed them to the wall. If I had of put them on the frame I think they would have stuck out too far and looked random.
They came with brackets and big fat screws, and then you snap the frame into the brackets. Was a freakin mission, Im so tired now lol, but the curtains look great, Im so pleased and its SO much warmer in here tonight!!!
We had gay blinds in here and I hated them, and it got cold in here quick, we havent even needed the heater tonight Luckyily my landlord is also one of my best friends hehe, she gave me the ok to hang curtains
