We just have a rule that if you want to eat, you do it at the table, sitting in your chair (or highchair for Sophie). I have some friends whose children are all over the show with food and stand on their chairs at the table and it just grates me so much (I am not very tolerant of other peoples children

).
One friend has a very similar issue with her almost 2yo, and it is all about control. We were talking about her boy today and she admitted that whilst she was *trying* to be strict, she was very hap-hazard about it so he was getting mixed signals
You (and my friend) maybe need to decide if it is a big deal or not and set a rule. Most day care/creche/kindies have a strict rule about sitting down to eat and her boy is fine there (monkey). Personally I would be very not OK with cleaning food of the carpet. Also how do you cope when you eat at someone else's house?
