I'm thinking ahead here as my wee man isn't one for a couple of months but I can't find any information on how to introduce him to cow milk.  Do I simply stop giving him formula one day and start him on cow milk the next or do I gradually replace formula with cow milk one bottle at a time over a few days?

As far as I know he doesn't have any dairy allergies, I've been giving him cheese and yoghurt with no reaction.  He did have reflux when he was around 2 -3 months and I changed him over to the anti-reflux formula but hes been off medication for about a month now with no sign of reflux coming back.  I've simply left him on the AR formula since hes fast approaching his first birthday rather than change him to another formula - he only has three bottles a day now anyway which I aim to reduce to two when he turns one.

That brings me to my second question, I plan on giving him one of his bottles at night time and dropping the afternoon bottle.  When do most people give their babies their other bottle?  He'll be having milk with his breakfast but it won't be the equivalent of a whole bottle.

You could try just switching one feed at a tme. If he's fussy about the taste then you could half and half it and then add more milk, less formula till he's into it.

I weaned my son from boob to cows milk one bottle a day to start and it took him about a week to fully get into it, so just persevere.

He is still on 3 bottles a day at 14 months and no sign of wanting any less. He has them one first thing before breakfast, one after lunch and one before bed.

We started Caden on cows milk a few weeks before his first birthday, we had got him down to just 2 formula feeds a day(one in the morning and one at bedtime) by 11 1/2 months and then we started giving him some cows milk is his sippy cup in the afternoon, and he loved it, then a week or so ago we started giving him just formula in the morning and for his bedtime bottle he has cows milk, and now as of yesterday I have taken him off formula all together and he just has cows milk.

So basicly now Caden is having cows milk in the morning and at night, and some in his sippy cup during the day, and then water the rest if the day.

My little guy was first introduced to cows milk via home-made fruit smoothies - I had horrible morning sickness and they seemed to make me feel a little better, and of course he wanted some too. (He had been BF up until that stage) It wasn't until I got hospitalised over New Years, and Blair spent 2 nights away from me that he ended up from 2 BF a day, to attempting 1 a day and I think he got a milk top up. Because I was finding it hard to keep even fluids down, about a week later we ended up going complete cold turkey from BF to cows milk, and had no problems. Blair was about 15 months old at the time. He's still having 2 milk drinks a day, after breakfast and before bed, we're just using a nuby sippy bottle, and it's normally about 1/2 filled

Thanks for your replies.  I think I will start by switching his formula for cows milk for the morning bottle first, drop the second bottle which should go okay as long as I give him afternoon tea and after a few days will change his evening bottle to cows milk as well, before all this happens Ethan will be settling into daycare and me back into work (in a months time) so that will be the next big event in bubs life.
