Topic: Western Australia Posted: 18 July 2009 at 8:03pm |
We are heading to Western Australia, well to Perth actually in about 6 weeks time to a wedding.
Does anyone have any recommendations for accommodatin in Perth please? We will be there for 10 days and have hired a car.
Also any "must do/see" recommendations?
TIA

I do know there are some great vineyards just outside of Perth.
Fremantle is also worth a visit.
Can't help with accommodation.

I have a friend in WA (but not Perth), will ask her if she knows of anything. I do know there are mines over there that you maybe able to do a tour of.

Um, I am there right now. But I don't get out much Where in Perth are you staying? There is some wonderful aquarium *somewhere* north of Perth. There is a neat little zoo way south, maybe 1.5hrs drive from actual Perth though. Yes, Fremantle is nice. They have a chocolate factory that sell delicious chocolates mmmm.
Sorry, I am not much help at all lol!
You could go out to Rott Nest Island and see the Quokkas (like teeny kangaroos), but be aware that the ferry over there is insanely overpriced!
There is also Penguin Island, which I think is down here in Rockingham, about 40mins drive from Perth.
I am going to the info centre sometime this week because my bestie is coming over in *13 sleeps!!* and I have no idea what there is around here, haven't been here long enough. But if I find fun things to do around Perth I will let you know. Anything in particular that tickles your fancy? Zoos? Shows? There's a creepy night tour of a prison in Fremantle. (and a day tour)

I've spent heaps of time in Perth - Mum's family lives there. I'll pop back on this evening with some suggestions if I remember - must get to work now

i haven't been there, but I think a friend went to feed some dolphins that come right up to beach - it might be a bit of a way out of Perth - sorry very vague, someone else might be able to fill in the details...

Gelato on Cottlesloe Beach - yum yum yum.
Fremantle is a great place to wander round.
The zoo's pretty good if you're into that sort of thing.
