Topic: Help.. I think I am overdue (period) Posted: 09 June 2006 at 7:04pm |
Hiya, bit worried, I have a beautiful baby girl, Lucy, not that young now, 6 months, anyway I am overdue for my period, (it might come tomorrow). My husband and I have been pretty careful, but I am still worried!!!!
We want another baby but not so soon
Any thoughts?

Have you had a period since Lucy was born?
I only just got my first period back this week (horrible thing that it is), and Xanda is just over 6 months.

I was going to ask the same question. And had it been regular since it returned? I just went through this, was soo scared. I had been getting mine pretty much every month, but this time it was 2 weeks late! Anyway, the point I am slowly getting to, is that your periods can be pretty irregular for quite a few months post-baby.

Yep, I got my period 3 months after Lucy was born, my periods have been quite regular, every month, I am only 1 week overdue, so maybe I should stop stressing and wait till next week!

OR... do a pregnancy test just to make sure! I never did tho just spent two weeks stressing about it! For some reason I felt a bit embarrassed about buying a pg test when I only had a baby not that long ago

I can tell you what people think.
they think
"woohoo,another wee bubba"
When i got pregnant with Taine so soon after Jake I was quite embarressed, and terrified about everything - they would'nt be friends, I wouldn't have enough time with each. Jake would sit on Taine an dkill him, but actaully things have worked out erally well,
So Lisha, if another bubba is on the way, it will work out. Crossing my fingers for you that things work out the way you'd prefer anyway!

If you are breastfeeding still, then they could be irregular til you stop b/f. My dr said the other day that because I had a period back I was still not to count on it coming regularly every month until a couple of months after I stop b/f completely. Also some forms of contraception effect regularity of period.

I remember nana telling me she had my aunty with her who at the time was about 18mths and her twin niece and nephew who will abit younger and she was up town with them ( good on her for being so brave taking 3 littles up town i say) and she said she got some really sarky comments about how close she had her babes. Nana thought it was quite funny but that was back in the day when i guess people were really judgemental.
I say for piece of mind just bite the bullet and get do a test. Bugger what people think

Thanks so much for your replies! I have a "feeling" that maybe I am... maybe just a wee bit paranoid aswell. Will do a test though, as today I have been stressing/depressed

Congrats - you avoided what my mum calls Irish twins... One of my cousins has two kiddies with 10 months between them. I'm going to end up with a respectable 16 month gap LOL.
Glad you got the result you wanted in any case
