Topic: Yes, another hospital bag thread... ! Posted: 10 June 2006 at 1:24pm |
I won't put up my whole list though as it is pretty similar to Toni's, but there were a few things I wanted to quickly ask about. I know that the hospital or birthing centre will usually provide nappies and wipes for your stay, but I am planning on taking a few anyway "just in case". The question is, how many ?? More so for the wipes than the nappies, have already got them sorted. However, the packs of wipes I have are quite big (80's), and can't really be split up. Ideas?
Also, at home we only use shampoo and conditioner that come in really big bottles, can anyone recommend a good brand and where to get some travel sized ones?
Actually, that's about it. Thought I had more to ask, but it will probably come to me later ! LOL

DO you perhaps have little bottles around the house that you could just transfer the shampoo or conditioner into???
And next time you are at the supermarket grab some plastic bags (like the gladbag thingys) and then you can shove some wipes in there. Otherwise, just snake some from the pick'n'mix bins
I took a pack of nappies and a small pack of wipes (about 30 I think).

I was thinking about that Nikki and I don't think we do, might ring my mum though because she used to have a whole box full of little bottles for stuff like that. Good idea about the glad bags though LOL I will add some to the grocery list.

I don't think I took any nappies.. you get these new mother packs with quite a few samples of nappies and wipes and nappy creams etc.. you only need one disposible to go home in and we just used the cloth hospital nappies while we were there.

The new mum freebie packs I got were really useless - I was hoping for some good stuff, but not a free nappy or wipe in sight

If you're at Birthcare Jax I wouldn't bother with nappies - they supply Huggies, and there are so many of them around that I even managed to pinch a couple of packs to take home
They don't supply wipes tho, they supply nappy liners instead to use as wipes which I found a bit dry and scratchy.

Ok well I will try to just worry about the wipes then, although I seem to have fit everything in so far, with a *little* room to spare for my own clothes LOL I will wait a little while yet before I do that as I am currently living in the ones I want to take with me LOL

Also film canisters are great for little amounts of shampoo and conditioner.

LOL Robyn I haven't turned on my computer all day until now, but we did our fortnightly grocery shop this morning and I saw those travel packs of Pams wipes and grabbed one ! I also now have some small containers for my shampoo and conditioner - yay for "smidgets" LOL (Geez, I'm ALREADY making tupperware jokes!) Will probably take out the nappies I've put in there too. And as there is a chemists attached to the Pak n Save we go to in Albany, I picked up some Arnica and Tea Tree oil, so am *almost* all packed as well !

I took a huggies travel pack full of wipes...but as I mentioned before Hospital did not give us any wipes at all.....and I found that the first poos are all sticky and green and it took me several wipes to get her cleaned off properly so the travel pack was finished very quickly. I ended up asking my hubby to bring the 160pack bag of wipes from home! Nappies how ever was not a problem...I was given loads from the hospital....so you might not even need any...but keep a small pack!
