Topic: Evenflo discovery capsule Posted: 08 August 2009 at 5:09pm |
Hi
I'm looking at a new evenflo discovery capsule on trademe, but it iis the model that was recalled and you need to use an additional part for it to meet safety standards
Does anyone know what this additional part means for functionality - ie is it still easy to get the capsule out of the base?
Also, how much do you think this will limit the resale value when I go to sell it (they have a $130 buy now, but it didn't sell last week and they have relisted).
Thanks

If its the model in thinking of the extra part was an ordinary teether strap that went from the capsule to the base which had to be done up each time you put the capsule on the base.
Obviously that makes the click and go functionality that most people buy a capsule with base not quite as simple a task, but its not a huge task to clip the capsule in after clipping it into the base itself.
Brand new you can pick up a new one from Farmers for a couple of hundy and there is a 20% off discount voucher in the bounty book .. and if you wait till they have a sale you can get the sale price plus take another 20% off, I personally would buy one new as you dont know what has happened to the capsule in its "previous life".

Excellent - thanks Lilfatty.
I didn't know they sold them at farmers, and about the bounty discount. Where do you get the bounty book?
That arrangement with clipping the capsule into the base sounds like it almost defeats the purpose of having the base.
Thanks again

I've just found my bounty book/pack, but can't see the voucher - any ideas where it is hiding in there?
Is it a farmers one or an evenflo one?

It's a Farmers voucher and it's on page 56 .. I cant remember if its in the bounty pregnancy book or the one that you get after the baby is born though (as ive just ripped the voucher out and have it sitting in my bag, just in case).

Thanks for the page ref Lilfatty - it must be the book you get post-baby so I'll ask if someone has one to give away. I'd be stoked if we could get it for $180-20%, but if not, $180 is an ok price and the resale will be good.
Cheers

We're getting one too, while they're on sale at Farmers. We didn't have a capsule with Kaelen, we just put him straight into a convertible carseat. But i thought it would be good to have a capsule with base since we'll have a toddler and a baby this time.

Just make sure that it actually fits in your car properly, I brought one new thinking it would be good but it ended up not fitting properly (we have a european car) and felt really really unsafe, flopped around everywhere!!
Good luck though, I highly recommend having a capsule though (we got a baby trend for DS2 which was great).
