I'm not sure but is there a certain point at which taking folic acid is pointless?
I was around 11 weeks when I found out I was pregnant with Jaye (PCO so periods were rather irregular!). My MW made a comment about it being too late to take folic acid? How true is this?

they say its important to take it until 12 weeks. if you eat really well then dont stress too much as green veggies and stuff have folic acid in them too, so you always have some in your system but the extra supplements are recommended till at least 12 weeks

The MOH advises from 4 weeks before conception until 12 weeks after - so thats about week 14 of pregnancy. I stopped at about 16 weeks this time.

most people take it 4-12 13 weeks then stop.

On my bottle it say take till 13 weeks pregnant. That was Saturday but I had 3 left so I have been taking them, tomorrow is the last day, kind of makes hitting the 2nd trimester seem more real.
