Topic: Cot bumpers. Posted: 19 August 2009 at 11:42am |
I know there is a thread about the safety of these, and that thread reminded me of a question I have been meaning to ask.
All the cot bumpers I have seen don't work with solid end cots. They all require ties to go at the corners. If you tie them of the sides, the bumper is all buckled and doesn't fit properly.
Jackson is a crazy wriggler in bed and I am always hearing him smash into the sides. Yesterday he woke up with a big dent in his forehead from sleeping smushed up against the rails. How he's comfortable I don't know, but I'd like to minimise the damage to him!
Anyone found a solution, or a product, for these cots? I have seen the airwrap on the Sleepstore for solid end cots, but they are not padded so won't help with the smashing.

I made one from foam with some nice kiddy fabric and used velcro strips to attach it to the head of the cot. We dont have a solid end, but it works great. I've gotta have them cuz Thomas will sit in his cot and bash his head back on the sides when he's reading (yes, mental)
Maybe you could do that? Or you could get a normal one with ties and use sew on velcro dots so your wee man cant get underneath or something? :D

I thought there was something wrong with me because I couldn't make it work...I ended up using Hollie's on the otherside of the bars, more as a decoration, and jamming the end between the cot and the wall.
Sorry I'm no help, but I feel better now!

If you get a big bumper (tall - not talking about the length), then you can tuck half of it down the side of the mattress which should keep it in place but still leave enough sticking up to work, and tie on either side of the solid cot ends. Does that make any sense?

Just wanted to say we had the airwrap and it was useless.
We have open end cots so can't help otherwise

if he is bumping into the side of the cot other then the top and bottom, try using the bumper but at the head board have it on the outside of the cot then tuck it back in the sides and pullit tight and do up the last tie
this way you wont need to tie it at the headboard/corners and it wont get all twisted
man I hope that makes sense!
