We are going to be using the shuttle to get to and from the airport from our motel when we go on holiday soon. We are not taking the carseat as we've ordered one for our rental car when we get there. At the risk of sounding like irresponsible parents, will we be able to take Lily without a carseat? I'm assuming the shuttle is a van. Has anyone else done this? TIA
Most shuttles we have used overseas have always provided a carseat when I have requested one.
The only place that didn't supply one was when we went to ChCh last year, so we had no choice but to not use one. It made me feel sick to the stomach that DD was not in a carseat, but what could I do???
Definately request one, hopefully they will be able to supply one for you!
We are actually taking a carseat to Perth when we go next week as it will just be "easier" IYKWIM!!!
Auckland shuttles are horrendous and you will struggle to find one who will supply a carseat, or even let you take your own. Legally, if there are no seatbelts for passengers (like a bus) then you don't need to use a carseat, but f there are safety belts then you need a carseat - we had a row with a shuttle company about this after they wouldn't let us take our carseat (long story).
I used a motel shuttle last month when we travelled to Auckland - we didn't have a carseat in the shuttle - just put Lily on our lap - a bit scary and I was worried we'd get pulled over, but we didn't!
Also used the mini-bus shuttle they have from Maui campervans to the airport when we went back home - felt safer in that as it was bigger.
What are the rules anyway!? Kids go in buses without carseats!
