Mums,
What/how many nursing tops etc. did you find you needed? And are there any styles of tops/dresses that aren't specific for nursing but work just as well but cheaper? All the nursing tops I come across seem to cost $60 or more, even just for singlets and I'm not really sure what I will need.
Any suggestions/advice would be much appreciated

Iv only just treated myself to some bf tops, they arent a necessity. loose singlet tops, cross over tops and long flowy tops are great. I normally have a loose singlet and another top on over the top, pop my bob out the top, undo bra snap, lift up top and pop him on. that way no one sees your stomach and much of ya boob.
In summer it was fine at nights, just lift the top up, didnt need any other layers to keep warm.
Also those stretchy baby band things are handy to keep your stomach warm/covered.

I heard a great idea recently. a firend got some of those cheap merino tops from glassons, she cut holes out the front for her boobs to stick through, then wore looser layers over the top. it meant that she kept her stomach warm, got the trendy layered look and didn't cost a fortune

That's what I do, I don't have any actual bf tops. Normal tops that you can lift up work fine

Farmers do good BF singlets, about $30 but cheap in the sales if you wait. I wear mine everyday with normal tops over them.

I found the sort of romany style looking tops that each strap connects to cover a sperate boob worked.

I bought a few bf singlets (the Nurture range from Farmers) on TM and just wear a pre-pg top over it. I have 4 and wear them if I am going out. If I am at home or just going to families houses then I just wear a bf bra and pre-pg top.
My pre-pg tops are relatively fitting but still stretch enough to go up over my breasts
ETA - if you are worried about showing your tummy (the only reason I bought the singlets) I have heard of people wearing belly bands under their tops

I just got 3 BF singlets from Kmart and just wear them underneath to keep the tummy warm and wear tops that are loose at the neckline so that I can pull them down under my boob. Or I just wear shirts.

I've got 4 of the Farmers nurture singlet tops, I find them great. During winter, I just wear them underneath another top that I lift up.

I just used to wear a stretchy singlet under all my tops, that way your tummy is covered too.
The ones with adjustable straps are fantastic.
I had two of them and that worked fine.

I have no nursing tops. A dress that I can use is my wrap dress I normally wear a singlet underneath but thats more cos it doesn't quite cover my boobs lol and I've had it for about 5yrs
I'm looking for and waiting for glassons or another one of the cheap stores to do the long boob tubes, as I normally wear them under another top anyway and that way you slip it down and lift the other top up. I also have a couple of baby doll dresses that I can use as I have the shrugs that cover my shoulders and that
