Topic: Installing anchor point for carseats Posted: 02 September 2009 at 1:52pm |
We've just got a new carseat for DH's car but we need to install an anchor point for the tether strap. DH wants to do it himself (he has all the right tools etc) has anyone else done this? What type of bolt did you use and where did you get it from?
TIA

Yep we did this is DH car as well. We bought the bolt from Target here in Aus but you can also get them from Kmart and most probably Farmers (Or any baby shop). I will ask DH tonight how he installed it and let you know

Oh cool, thanks! I've been bugging DH about doing it but because he doesn't know where to get the bolt from he's dragging his heels a bit, and he's so busy at work that he doesn't have much time to go looking around. That info would be great

Baby city usually have them, or pretty much anywhere that sells carseats.
We had ours fitted by the local Pit Stop for $25 (just supplied the bolt ourselves) and Plunket told me that pretty much anywhere that does WOF checks can install the bolt for you.

My DP installed mine, and my Dad installed an anchor point in Mum's car too. We got one bolt with our carseat, and picked up a second from babycity. It's handy having a point in Nan-nan's car, it means we can take her car when she and I go out for coffee! And if you install it yourself, the WoF station can check it for free when you go for your warrant.

I asked DH and he said that each different brand varies slightly with the installation. But he said that which ever bolt you buy it will come with the instructions on how to do it

If you get sick of waiting, its cheap to get a mechanic to do it for you! We got ours put in only a week ago, for $25 - bolt included in price.
