Topic: Hip pain Posted: 09 September 2009 at 8:34am |
I've been meaning to ask this question for ages.
Since having DS I am finding that my hips are agony in the morning, to the point that some mornings I have to get up before I need to as its just too painful to stay lying down anymore.
It wears off after I have been up 10 minutes.
Some months its worse than others and this is very bad, my helpful father is trying to tell me its a sign of old age, and that I need a softer bed,
but this has only been the case since I had my son, i'm really hoping signs of old age don't kick in at 29!!
Did/does anyone else have this, I haven't been to the Dr or anything, but wondering if they would do much anyway, the pain is so bad at the moment, i need to do something about it.

I'd say go to a chiro or physio. When I went to my chiro after having Daniel (this is like a year after) my back was out and my pelvis was crooked and hes fixed both of those probs. But because its left a while it might be inflammed and you might need antiimflatories to help with the pain side of things and to fix whatever is up to cause the problem.

I get sore hips/back if I've been lying in bed in one position for too long or if I've been on the floor with DS too long too. When I spoke to my GP, he said it was my lower back and it will come right, as it's a side effect of pregnancy and birth. He also said it can take up to a year for your body to recover from childbirth . My aches and pains are definately getting better over time though. Plus I'm also losing weight, which can only help my poor old body

What kebakat said: a physio would be a good first port of call.
I get the same thing with my hips, and I haven't had a baby yet . Mine are the result of an accident a few years ago. At the time I did heaps of physio which made a big difference. Since joining the gym again this year they've been playing up again though, so think I need to head back to the physio to review the exercises for them.

I have been having hip pain since my first pregnancy and nearly 4 years later it got to the point where I finally went to an osteopath. It seems the right side of my pelvis is still slightly forward from being pregnant and the muscles are working overtime to try and get in back in line hence the pain.
I have been twice and even in that time I have found it is improving already. I would say go and see someone about it, you have to look after yourself too. We Mums are very good at looking after everyone else and neglecting our own health! Hope you find something/one that helps

Try a good massage therapist they are often just as good as a physio.

i get it in my hips (and lower back at times) too....not nearly as bad as i did tho....and i blame it on her being so heavy (9 lb 8) and sittin breach on me!!!
Pain was so bad early on i had trouble standing at times...
poss a c section thing? but otherwise I blame a BIG FAT BUBBA!!!! oh and probably the 30kg i put on when i was pg with her that my body went into shock over!
