Are there any Pak n' Saves in Auckland with those awesome price scanners that tally up your grocery spend as you go? I saw them in Hawera and I'd love to know if there's any up this way.

Are you talking about Shop'n'Go??? Not from Auckland but give them a call to see if they do it. You have to register for it, but I love it.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

No they don't have them in Akl, at least not in Lincoln Road, it was weird as they're everywhere down here and they're great.

I'm not sure what that is, but in Pak n' Save Hawera, they had these little devices you pick up with your trolley. You scan the barcode on each of your grocery items and it keeps a running total of how much you're spending as you go through the supermarket. I was just wondering if they had them in any Pak n' Saves in Auckland.

I'm gonna google Shop n' Go, now...

Shop n' Go, that's it! I'm gonna write to them and tell them to hurry up this way.

I just got a response from Pak n' Save. They aren't looking at expanding them into the upper North Island area as they don't believe they are cost effective. Basically implying that it is an expensive system and if they were to introduce them, they would have to put their food prices up.

Sounds like a load of rubbish to me. I reckon they just don't want to do it because then customers would stick to their budgets and spend less than they do now.

What they're not thinking about is the influx of customers from other supermarkets if they did implement this technology. If Auckland Pak n' Saves were as high tech and well-presented as the Hawera Pak n' Save, they'd get truckloads more customers. They should use that store as a benchmark.

I would so go to Pak'n'Save if they had that. I always find I spend more when I shop there because they have things on sale that I dont need this shop but will need next shop LOL. I really just need to stick to my shopping list!

Auckland Pak n Save's probably don't need to do it because they already hold market share in most areas they are in. (or so I understand from people in the know)

Wow, I thought all Pak n Saves had Shop n Go.

It's brilliant. I always use it, it's good to know how much you're spending. Can't help but wonder if people abuse the system though... I haven't had a rescan in months. Very trusting!
