    Posted: 20 October 2009 at 12:08pm

I need some advice - I need to go for a pelvic ultrasound, and I cannot find anywhere that does saturday appointments or a late night. At the moment DH cant really take anytime off work to look after Oli so that I can do this, so my question is - how long is it likely to take? Could I take Oli in the buggy and park him in the corner? I know that some radiologists can be a bit grumpy and I dont know whether I would get away with this or not?  I dont really have any other options unless I wait until the next school holidays to get my mum to look after him (when she is on holiday too).

Thoughts?

I would ring the radiologist and ask if it's okay to bring him along, and go from there.
Chloe (4 years) and Oliver (3 years).

I took Spencer to all my scans with Kyle and no one ever had an issue with it. At my 7 week one i was on my own and ended up having to have internal scan as well and they didn't mind him being there. Just make sure you take lots of toys and snacks

I'm having the same dilemma as have to have a pelvic scan soon and I'm thinking DF will have to take the morning off... I would think the radiographers would be okay with you taking your boy, my prob is my DD2 screamed hysterically on several occasions when the Dr tried to feel my stomach so I can only imagine her reaction at an ultrasound..So dunno if that's something you need to consider.
mum to 3 lovely girls :D

I had to have a pelvic ultrasound done on my kidneys and bladder this week. I phoned and they said it was fine to take Floyd and park him in the corner only to arrive and have the lady say I would have to leave him outside because his crying would put her off  WTF!!!! he was happy as.  In the end after me having a polite spaz  I took him in with me, he did a little grizzle and the receptionist came and pushed him up and down the hall till I'd finished.  It took about 15mins (I had to have an internal one too )

Thanks ladies - I rang a few places and most of them were a bit rude and made statements like "well its not ideal, but if you have no choice then I guess you will have to bring him", one ladie offered to look after him in the waiting room, but that wouldnt work - he would get really stressed with a stranger. I dont know what I am going to do yet - will talk to DH tonight and see what he thinks about going into work late one day or something like that.

Oh and I had 2 receptionists say that they didnt think it was suitable for him to be in the room with me given that it was an internal scan. WTF?

Well thats what I thought too - its not like he doenst come into the toilet with me EVERY time I go at home....

One woman (receptionist) made it sound really pervy that I would want to bring my two year old into the room with me. !

Thanks Kabe - very sweet of you! Think I am going to wait until next week when DH is less busy and then see what appointment I can get. He thinks he might be able to go in late on day next week!

Have you tried Ascot Radiology in Greenlane or Specialist Radiology in Greenlane? They both do late nights.

I think Auckland Radiology in Remuera do late nights too.
