Topic: my 1st pregnancy! Posted: 08 November 2009 at 11:08am |
Hi everyone!
I'm looking to meet some people who are in the same boat as me :P
Well this is my first pregnancy, I'm 21 and it was unexpected but me and my partner are very excited about it!
I'm about 8 weeks (is see my midwife for the first time tomorrow morning) and at the moment, morning sickness is totally kicking my butt. I'm nauseous all day, not actually vomiting but the sicking feeling in my stomach makes it so hard to want to get up for work and to do things. Ive tried the ginger thing and it sometimes helps, but only for a short time and then the sick feeling comes back
I also had an operation at the beginning of the year where i had a layer of my cervix removed because of pre-cancerous cells. there is a chance that i'll have pre-mature so it makes me a little nervous.
I would love to find some people who i can chat to about this stuff as i don't have any friends who have been through this experience and to meet some new ones who i can share it with would be really cool
-Jane

Hi Jane! Welcome to ohbaby!
I had my first baby at 22 a few years ago and it was also an unexpected pregnancy so I totally know where you are coming from!
There are lots of little places on ohbaby that you can go and find other people who are going through the same thing as you. Are you due in June? There is a June 2010 thread, and a young mums thread somewhere too. There is also a high risk pregnancy thread that you could have a look in too if you want to chat about the possibility of having a pre-mature baby, there are lots of lovely mums in there who have been through similar things.
I also hear you on the nausea, morning sickness is just horrible and even now I still have moments where I have to throw up! Seabands and Blackmores morning sickness pills from the chemist got me through those first few months.
Whereabouts are you from? There are lots of coffee groups and meetups going on around the country in the mums meetup section too.
Hope your morning sickness eases up soon.

Welcome along to the forums.
This is my first pregnancy too, and it was unplanned and came as total shock when I found out. My partner is totally thrilled but I still haven't got my head around the whole idea of been a mum just yet, guess that will probably change when the babies born next month.
I was pretty lucky I never really got full blown morning sickness, I only felt a little queasy between 7-8 weeks. I found if I got hungry the sick feeling seemed to get worse, if I had a small snack (a couple plain biscuits) it seemed to keep the queasy feeling at bay.
My sister in law had cervial cancer and after the opperation the doctors told her that she wouldn't be able to have any more kids, it came as a huge shock to her when she found out she was pregnant, then the doctors told her she probably wouldn't be able to carry the baby to term, amazingly she beat the odds and had a heathly problem free pregnancy that went full term. So don't get too concerned about things can still turn out absolutely fine.

Hi Jane,
I had nearly four months morning sickness at the beginning, but now all backs to normal. It will go away. So don't worry. Have you tried homoeopathic remedies before? I used nausea drop from Welleda recommended by our pharmacist. It's very useful. Drinking some ginger and raspberry tea will help too.
Hopefully yours will be over soon.

Welcome to OB and congrats
I had LLETZ surgery in 2007 as well, and also had a chunk of my cervix removed for the same reason, so was also at risk of prem labour. My specialist said he wasn't too worried though, there was always the chance of putting a stitch in but they wouldn't look at it unless something happened that threatened the pregnancy. I did end up in prem labour (33w4d) but it was nothing to do with my cervix issues
Good luck!!
