I didn't birth there (was also planning on it as we were moving out here but bubs had other plans) but have only heard positive things from friends that have birthed there. Small rooms, great staff and a good staff/patient ratio. Good luck

Hi Skrippy,
I recently visited there as part of my Doula Certification course- i need to review birthing facilities available & i was delighted to see whats available.
The atmosphere is incredibly peaceful - all the staff I met with were very friendly & went out of their way to help me. Nothing at all like the hustle & bustle of a maternity ward at a hospital & you can be guaranteed to get hands-on-help around the clock if needed!
Wishing you all the best for a joyful birth! :)

I went there for my post natal stay. The mws were lovely, it was wonderful having my own room and it was heaps bigger than the hospital rooms so that was alot easier when family visited. I didn't mind being there by myself quite a bit (DH was busy looking after Jack and by chance his parents flew in the day I gave birth!), there is a tv in each room and the privacy is great so you can do what you like whenever you like. They only take a max of 3 Mums at a time so the mw/mum ratio is great and you get alot faster assistance at night if needed. Would definately go back if we have #3

bext1 I birthed at Waitakere and then transfered to Helensville, so that is an option. Luckily for me that I was booked in at Helensville as they had no beds at Waitakere! I stayed in the Birthing Suite until I transfered

that sounds like a plan! as my MW is at Waitakere hospital so probably best not to change. Thanks Linzy!
