 Topic: Baby Shower - opinion please

So Ive decided to host my own shower but I have a couple of questions~
1. when? I thought about 31 weeks which will be around the 13th dec
so is 2 weeks enough notice?
2. would you come to a shower the week of christmas? like the 19th or 20th?
3. how late is too late?
I was thinking starting about 5.30-6pm and having a BBQ then males can come
4. what would interest the males?
5. I could have it in the new year like the 3rd - ill be 34 1/2 weeks. again would you come that close to the new year?
6. Would you go to one midweek? like wednesday or thursday?
I can't or don't want to do it before the 13th or after the 5th jan as my neice is here and Id like her to be here for it

i like the idea of having on the 3rd or 4th. people might be to busy before xmas and a lot of people are still off work but dont have to worry about xmas!
also love the idea of a BBQ- might have to do this when i have my baby shower (not even pg yet!) as im not into the really "girly" baby shower idea

- 2 weeks is probably enought if you are going to personally contact them, eg: not send invites by mail.

- i think for alot of people they calender is pretty booked up with work partys and stuff around this time so i'm not too sure if you would get many people who could actually make it before xmas.

- that sounds like a good time for a BBQ type of shower, either that or lunch time.

- umm in my experience this would have to be alcohol lol.

Tastic, I'm having mine on the 13th Dec. I'm not meant to know about it as a friend is organising it as a secret but DP told me about it cause he knows I hate surprises lol. My friend did the reasearch and asked around what date would suit the majority and most people said early-mid dec was best as they already had plans for late dec and a lot of people were heading out of town early Jan and after that was getting too close to my due date.
I'm with GBAM - all you need is alcohol for the men and they will be happy!

I'd probably go for the January option, as it's nice to have it towards the end of your pregnancy. Sure not everyone will be able to make it, but you're always going to get that!
My second choice would be the 13th December. I think 2 wks notice is fine.
BBQ and beer for the guys should be fine

I had mine today & am 33 weeks tomorrow. I think it was a great time to do it as I wasn't too tired & hot!
I would personally prefer the one on 13th Dec - but it all depends on your friends and if they have plans to go away etc. Maybe ask around to see what everyone is up to over xmas/new years.
The BBQ idea sounds great

for the last question that you added, i would go to one mid week but i wouldn't stay late. I don't work tho so it makes it easier for me, I'm not sure what the opinions of those who work would be.

I would be much more inclined to go for the January option rather than December as I always have a million things going on in December.
And I would go to something midweek, I find stuff like that heaps easier than Saturday afternoon. And 2 weeks should be fine.

for me i would prefer december as you never know what might happen in jan and i was uncomfy enough in nov last time:) also if it were me 530-6 doesnt work as we all have kids and then would all have to get babysitters...:) though the idea sounds good! however if it was in jan then i think most people would go? i think weekends are best:) just my humble opinion though:)
