Right... so we are off to Sydney boxing day and I need to know how this works now that DS 4 months old is FF.

At Auckland Airport I'm hoping a cafe will give us some hot water etc to make bottle before we get on to the plane, but what do we do about washing them/making them up on the plane?

What do I need to know/prepare for!? I'm thinking this whole trip thing was a bit ambitious now!!!

From experience, the cafes at Auckland airport will heat up water for you. I think the situation on the plane totally depends on which airline you are flying. Generally on the airline website they will have that info.

I would take the appropriate volume of water in the bottle(s) - sterile or not depending on what you do, and the formula in a dispenser, then you just have to hand over one bottle to whoever will heat up the water for you.

good luck!

We flew to London and back with a bottle baby, and we just had the flight attendents wash the bottle out after each feed. They also filled up the bottles and heated them for us too.

We found flying to Aussie at 4mo with our now 3.5yo DD a breeze - blondy has pretty much covered everything though! Air NZ were lovely, they had all sorts of spare baby supplies (except for nappies) on board and told us not to worry about asking for help.

I'd take a couple of dispensers worth of formula, so then you don't have to rush straight out to the supermarket and can unpack and settle in first.

Do you have a carrier for bub? We have always taken a pram as well but found having a sling or carrier of some description absolutely invaluable for overseas trips.

Thanks guys... Alex isn't very good at sleeping when out so I'm terrified...

Does anyoen know whether you can take your stroller through to the gate then give it to someone to check in or whether you have to check it in straight away when you check in? it's a biggish one so they won't let us have it as carry on.

When we flew from Akl we were able to take our stroller right up to the gate, they tag it at check in and then take it off you as you get on the plane. It should be waiting for you when you get off at the other end

I took our own cooled, boiled water in the bottles we needed and formula in a dispenser. They didn't even look at it going through security in Akl, they just said as long as you have a baby it's OK We also had jars of baby food and dry snacks like crackers and cereal.

C drinks formula at room temp but the family next to us got their bottles heated on the plane. They will rinse bottles for you too but no facilities to sterilise so if take one more bottle than you think you will need.

Does your DS take a dummy? Use a dummy clip! So you don't have to keep picking it up off the floor. We gave C the dummy during takeoff/landing if it didn't coincide with a feed.

HTH Enjoy your holiday!
