Topic: Cloth Nappy Advertisment Posted: 20 December 2009 at 8:28pm |
Just saw the ad on tv for Baby First Cloth Nappies, isn't it exciting to see a cloth nappy ad on tv. I could be wrong but I haven't seen any before so hopefully it means a few more of the cloth nappy companies will take the initiative and get out there adn advertise!

I thought it was great!
I had a discussion with a friend a while ago as to why it was more common for people to use disposables....and wondered if it was because disposables were advertised all the time, people who didn't know any better or who had never been exposed to cloth nappies or discussed with older relatives/parents/grandparents automatically thought it was "right" or "normal" to use disposables without being 'exposed', for want of a better word, to the option of cloth nappies.
If it's on the TV now maybe more people who wouldn't have otherwise, will look at cloth options.

Alot of people I think aswell don't realise there are MCN's out there, whenever I have told friends/family that I am going to use cloth they think I mean the flat cloth nappies. They have no idea the options that are now out there for cloth and also how easy it can be! Hope to see more advertising soon!

it is good to see a cloth nappy being advertised - its a shame about the brand tho. i dont understand how they can call it a fitted, its more like a contour or shaped prefold!
the good morning show did a good job of promoting nappies this year...(nearly typed last year meaning this one!)

Yea shame the only brands that can afford to advertise are the made in china ones. Not our lovely made in nz ones.

Maybe it'll get people searching the internet though too. That's how I started, just tyoing in real nappies or cloth nappies and so on to see what was available in nz and found loads of websites.
I saw loads of baby stuff on Good Morning this year too...good on them.
Don't think I came accross Baby First till I saw them in Baby City much later on.

I agree, people don't know about MCNs. When I was pregnant I told people we were going to use cloth nappies. One friend said "you should use disposables, they're so much easier". I showed her the ones we're using and now she's pregnant and going to use cloth too! My cousin bet I'd last no longer than 3months using cloth haha, but here we are 10months on and still using them (in fact haven't bought disposables since DD was 3 months and we went on holiday - will be using cloth for our camping trip next week )

yep same here... in fact, when i went into Baby City and asked about their mcn's (can't remember what brand they stock) the sales lady told me that they're far too much hassle, and if i want to use cloth i should stick to old-fashioned flats!! she didn't even know about snappis - is it any wonder people go disposable when those sort of people are behind selling mcns??
