Topic: Stomach Aches Posted: 01 January 2010 at 10:19pm |
Hey guys, a little TMI-
I'm 27 weeks + 5 and for the past week or so I have been getting stomach aches that last most of the day. Most of the time they're not entirely painful, just uncomfortable, but last night after it being more painful than normal I woke up at 4am and tried to go to the toilet (figuring perhaps it was gas). Of course I had diahorrea, but at the same time I was also nauseaus and threw up twice.
Eventually I was able to go back to sleep and when I woke up this morning I felt fine, but after eating breakfast it was again another long day of a dull, more annoying, stomach ache.
I've been feeling a little nauseaus occasionally but it doesn't seem to be a bug or anything, it's quite constant.
Any ideas what this is? I have an appt with mw soon and will mention it to her, but I'm wondering if anyone else has this problem or knows what it may be?
Thanks!

Is your temp raised? If you are worried I'd give you midwife a call.

It's hard to know if my temp is raised, I don't feel feverish or dizzy at all but I don't have a thermometer (currently housesitting for relatives). Baby's still kicking around just fine, and I otherwise feel okay, just a little nauseaus.
If it continues tomorrow I'll probably give her a call, but I'm hesitant as she tends to brush off all my concerns and make me feel stupid for calling. We shall see! Thanks for the reply!

I had a lot of tummy upsets while I was pregnant with Isabella. I would have an icky tummy for half the day, then come night time I would be on and off the loo all night with the runs, it was awful!\
I never threw up, cos I dont really throw up as it is, I always go the other end, yuck.
Just ask your midwife if you are a bit worried, but I was all good, so Im sure things are fine

Thanks Sheza :) I'm going to mention to midwife, but I'm not too concerned, it seems to be quite common :)

I had a week of an upset stomach around that time as well. Mainly just sore and diahorrea. I put it down to something I was eating a lot of, though it may not have been. Anyway it went away after about a week and a half and at my next MW appointment she discovered that DS had engaged and sent me off for a scan just to see what was going on. They did get a little worried that he was going to come early but he ended up being two weeks overdue.

I get this flaring up every few weeks as well! The main thing is to make sure you don't get dehydrated, if you're worried see your mw. It's not very fun having the runs and vomiting as well so I know how ya feel!!

I got this quite a bit at about your stage too for a good couple of weeks unfortunately. Was awful, I was quite often running to the toilet with an upset tum. Like Sheza, I tend to go that end rather than throwing up.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Thankfully the vomiting and runs were only that night, but the stomach ache is persistent and awful at times. I'm sure it's probably more a stomach thing (ie what I'm eating as you say) than a pregnancy thing, but it's so hard to know what is normal or not when you're pregnant - usual "normal" and "not normal" rules do not apply! Haha. Thanks :)
