with the big clean..as it it a new year I want the place sparkling, so I have written out a list of all the rooms & want to clean them from top to bottom, now I am looking at the list & feeling overwhelmed & wish I could get a cleaning team in, ha ha.

I am looking at the kitchen & see toys everywhere, there is a dinosaur on top of the pantry, everone all ways askes me why it is there..& its because it cost over $150 & the kids now fight over it, there are games, starwars toys, books & the list goes on.

Every room has toys in it, even mine from when they decide to go jump on my bed or play with my makeup, they leave behind the incriminating toy & then deny being there.

The kitchen is a big job as the cupboards & pantry need to be done also, but it will be satisfying & look great. The upstairs toilet & laundry should be done first as I can stack toys on the shelves when cleaned out, only problem is I clean the toilet everyday thanks to 3 boys & feel like i get nowhere, but once the walls & window is done in there it will sparkle.

So now to gets the kids sorted so once I start I won't have to stop when I get the rubber gloves on, at the moment I have one on my knee demanding I rub his back & give kisses, very sweet.

www.flylady.net

I swear this website has really helped me. I find the housework overwhelming and this helped me put everything into bite sized pieces.

Oooh yeah I second that site, it's awesome.

Re the toys, I would go through the house with some big rubbish bags and get ALL the toys out of the rooms that they're not meant to be in before you start looking at the other stuff as it sounds like that's one thing that's bothering you and perhaps getting that out of the way first will help motivate you for the rest?

With the toys do you need to do a clean out and get rid of some that aren't needed? I do this about every 9 months and get rid of whatever isn't used and just keep a couple from other age ranges in case little ones come over

Great site, thanks.

Well I am 1/2 way through the kitchen & the Dino has a new home, ha ha.

I have got rid off all baby toys good old TM.
Main problem with toys is DS1 who is 8 puts his stuff up high to stop the little ones getting it, so it ends up everywhere.

I am going to get some more storage boxes for puzzles & games.

We have a sleep-out, that we used as a toy room, so I had very few toys inside but now we are turning it back into an office as DH is studying again. So will use part of it to store the toys.

My kids age from 8-3yrs so I cull when needed & I don't buy like I used to.

We put all toys away at night so the lounge does not look like a play room, I used to love having toys around when they were babies, but then had the big cute stuff, not it is blocks & cars that you stand on nearly breaking your neck over & the repeated NO when you ask them to tidy up.
