Hi ladies
I have been in and out of hospital the last few weeks with high blood pressure. I have no other pre-eclampsia symptoms, all bloods and urine have been clear, no swelling, headaches etc etc. The have prescribed me medication which seems to have brought it down to borderline, but i was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for what else i can be doing to get it down? (other than bedrest).
TIA

I don't know if it's the same for high blood pressure in pregnancy, but it runs in my family normally and they manage it through medication and diet. So lots of fruit and veges, low fat foods too. Certainly wouldn't hurt to try see if it helps.

Thanks nkap9. My diet is pretty good already, the only thing that I can change is to cut out red meat as we eat it maybe 4 or 5 times a week. So I am going to try that.

Hi - take things easy and don't get stressed! I had high BP as well during my pregnancy controlled by medication until I got to 38ish weeks and they decided that it was safer for us to be induced. As you are watching your diet the only other thing that might help in a bit of walking. Unfortunately I'm still on the medication 15 months later!

Hey,
I have borderline high blood pressure too, and only one kidney so they put me on medication and say eat lots of fruit vegies good diet etc, drink at least 2 litres of water a day and go for gentle walks or swims.
My parents got me a blood pressure machine a cpl of years ago and i use that and so far so good, I think the drinking lots of water really helps, even watered down juice if you can't stand water.
Kiara is 3 and Teagan is 2, now we're expecting our long awaited 3rd!
