Topic: Clothing size post pregnancy Posted: 14 January 2010 at 12:46pm |
just wondering what size do you normally become after having your baby. With both the boys I was basically in same size if not 1 size bigger then pre pregnancy, but this time Im not sure as Ive lost 10kg so far (thats not taking into account the size of bubs, placenta or water etc)
should I just wait and see or buy a couple of smaller size clothes?

Don't know tbh Tastic (being first baby - but didn't want to read and run), but I would think that you are going to be a bit smaller than you started, even with extra volume in the tummy area. I would possibly just use old clothes, but ones with drawstrings / adjustable waists in the meantime - and get some things that fit you properly afterwards.

I am a 6 when I'm fit, normally an 8 pre-baby, and now after baby I'm a 10, so 1-2 sizes bigger then before.

I am about 1 size bigger than pre baby number 1. Wouldn't like to say for you as you have lost 10kg though

I'm in my pre-pregnancy clothes and had gained 5kg by the end. Will be interesting to know how much I've lost now once I track down some scales.I've thinned down a lot but haven't lost much around my lower belly which is the bit that counts when buying clothes

Ill just wait till after bubs to get any new clothes then!

Yeah definitely wait. After #1 I was 1/2-1 size bigger, after #2 I'm back to my pre-baby weight and size (just proportioned differently though I've found).

After having my first I was a size 12. Slowly moved to a size 10. I was a size 8 pre-pregnancy that time.
This time I was a size 12 pre-pregnancy, so after, I might be a 14. If I'm lucky I'll be a 12.

I was an 8-10 pre-pregnancy and now I'm a 16...though slowly going down. It's mostly on my tummy - I can get into size 12-14 clothes easy but my tummy is still a size 16 so I just can't do them up. In saying that, I put on 35kg and have only lost 18kg so far.

I always start losing the weight after pregnancy, I'm now 5kg lighter than when I got pregnant & will probably lose more over the next year cause I'm still BFing so much (yep I'm one of those Biarches ) BUT once I stop BF I always get back up to that pre preg weight.
I think now I'm a size 10-12?? Only problem is with tops, size 14 shoulders & big boobs makes everything else look like crap.
Honestly depends on the manufacturer of clothes cause some smalls fit me & some larges do too

I was not even a 6 first time round, then was a 10 afterwards and still am. Have only put on 6kgs, and I'd say it's all baby.

Phew, I'm glad it's not just me who didn't go back to pre-baby size quickly!
Sheena, you have a 4 month old. A spare tyre is compulsory

LOL, so didn't get back to a reasonable size quickly - in fact it wasn't until she was a year old that the sizes finally dropped....

Not sure what the case will be for me although I'd say I'll be able to fit my pre preg clothes as soon as bubs comes out as I have only grown in the belly area. I can still fit my pants, they just don't do up cause of the bump.
My sister was a size 12 before getting preg with her DS, she gained 22kg with him and is now barely a size 6! Breastfeeding sucked the life out of her! Only took her about 5 months to get down to that size. She hasn't gained the weight back ever since! lucky cow
