just wondering how many times everyone prewashed there nappies and inserts? and did you use washing powder?
I washed the outers about 5 times but not with any washing powder but am now thinking I should of?
then someone said to use washing power so washed once with no powder and on the second (longer cycle of 2 hrs 35mins) with powder. then Ill probably wash another 2 or 3 times?
is this enough?
I cold wash my covers twice, and do my inserts once on hot, once on cold. I include a half dose of powder on the second wash, and do extra rinse cycles.
thats over kill. if they are covers then just a normal prewash would be sufficient. and if the inserts (assuming you are using pockets) are microfibre then just once is fine also. In fact hemp apparently doesnt need any any washing in also.
I only washed my itti bitti's once to remove anything that might be on them & was just aware until they were washed in that they wouldn't be as absorbent.
I've got some MyBaby nappies too and they are great. I think I only washed them once before using them and like AandCsmum was just aware that they might not be at their full 'capacity' for the first few washes.
