I am wanting to buy a seat for the back of my bike for my son. The type that has the child quite enclosed - legs and a back support up to their head.

Just wondering if anyone has one and what they like/don't like about it and what brand it is. There seems to be a huge variety out there. $299 for one with suspension or a lot cheaper for a basic model.

Also, at what age did your child start riding in it? And do you find helmets fit well and stay on your little ones?

Thank you

Do you specifically want one that goes on the back? I didn't like the idea of not being able to see them, plus it does funny things to your centre of balance, so we got a weeride - we love it, very stable and seems much safer (check out the multimedia info on their website, there's an embedded YouTube vid of a Sunrise story about different types of bike seats). All bike seats are recommended for 12 months and older although the main thing is that they can hold their head up fine with the helmet on I was surprised at how expensive helmets are but if you have the right size it stays on well.

Wow, they look awesome Weegee. Thanks so much for posting. I would feel a lot better about having my son up front instead of behind.

Does it get in the way of your legs slightly when pedaling? In the videos it looked like most people were biking with their knees out. We live on a hilly gravel road so need to be able to get a bit of pressure on the pedals!

There is a stockist near us so will check it out next time I'm in town.

Might pay to ring ahead first - we found that none of the stockists near us (in either west auckland or north shore) actually had them in stock, although they could get them in. We got ours through embrace.co.nz. Yeah you do have to adjust slightly, your knees aren't way out but you can't go exactly up and down any more. (When you first start using it your knees are further out while you get used to it!) We're on a gravel road too so know what you mean
