Topic: Pains - just stretching? Posted: 10 February 2010 at 9:38am |
Just slightly concerned today. Woke up at about 3am with tummy cramps and can't shake them. I've had a lot of different types of pain/discomfort with things stretching / moving, this is just a bit more painful than that though.
It's not too bad, I mean I can still walk around and do what I would normally do, it's bad enough that I can't sleep though.
Do I go on the theory no blood = everything is ok?
Also, I still have MS, so surely that is a sign that everything is ok?
Sorry to be a worrywart - just don't want to bother my midwife for nothing!

Could you describe a bit more where the pain is? There are a couple of things that spring to mind, being round ligament pain or even SPD type pain - these things can sometimes crop up earlier than expected.

its normal and perfectly ok to be worried , its a worrying time !
I felt like AF was coming up until about 13 weeks, they have to make lots of room for themselves, however , I always go by the rule that if you are concerned , or you think its out of the ordinary for you , to see your mw or a dr , they may just check you and tell you there is nothing to worry about but at least it gives you some peace of mind
And dont worry about bothering your MW for nothing, this is her job , she'll be used to it and should understand how worrying it can be

thanks everyone. I felt like such a dweeb posting about this. I'm sure it's nothing.
If it's not gone in an hour I'll ring MW. It has settled a bit though.
Thanks again.

Nah, it's scary, Zaylah. I had really bad cramps a while ago (I think I was about 10 weeks) that kept me awake one night. I've had them on and off since, with varying degrees of ouch. Obviously, they can't have been anything too bad, as Bubs looked fine at our 12-week scan, I'm sure it will be the same for you.
I had a nasty bunch of them yesterday as well, which scared me a bit, since I had some spotting at the same time. But they seem to be gone now, and since the spotting was only brown, old blood, I don't think it's worth too much of my worry (can't help it a bit, though!)

I had cramping from Ov til about13weeks and one period of mod red bleeding at 10weeks 5 days, and sporatic brown bleeding. Everything was fine at that scan and at my 13 week 6day scan.
I rung my midwife who told me to leave work for that day and go home and rest- I truely believe that if you are concerned at all ring your midwife! She will understand and if she doesnt then maybe she isnt the right midwife for you Please let me know how you get on.
Hopes I hope you are feeling better today and its goes, is your AF due around now? Sometimes that can cause the brown bleeding or if you BD with your DH

I'd definitely call your midwife Zaylah. I haven't had any cramps/stretching pains at all until the last 4 days (from the day following my 12 week scan and our first 'special cuddles' since we conceived). It was quite re-assuring to chat to my midwife yesterday about the pains, it has put my mind at rest.
I hope it settles down for you soon.

Thanks everyone, so good to be able to talk about any concerns with you ladies, even if I do feel stupid for bringing it up!
The paid eased off and was completely gone by 9pm last night. Spoke to a friend of mine who knows a lot about pregnancy etc, just because she turned up unexpectedly yesterday. She seemed to think it would just be stretching. Going to dr today anyway so will double check when there but I think I was just worrying over nothing!
Also got nasty MS again this morning (just when I thought it was easing off!) so that makes me feel a lot better too.
Mindy - no BD (poor DP, with ms / exhaustion etc, he hasn't had a look in!), and not around the time of AF, but good to know about those points for future! Thanks.

yeah i'm having cramps alot, it's one of the only things that reminds me that i'm PG, so I don't mind. a bit scary though, I keep thinking MC.
I think i'd rather have cramps than morning sickness though!

I had loads of cramps in early pregnancy and then they came back again at the end
Feels like period pain? Is scary at the beginning of pregnancy but is pretty normal.
