I've bought 2 bassinet size ones, and every time I touch them they sound like a plastic bag. I htink they were baby's first ones.

Have now discovered those wool cover things. That you just lay underneath and they soak up whatever spils that happen. Swanndri does one, you can get at famers and babysafe. Does anyone know if you can wash them. Being 200 wool I'm not sure. Even a hand wash??

Any advice would be greatly appreiciated.

Before our baby came I was shocked when I touched the protector on the bed as it was so noisy and plasticy. But to be honest, I haven't noticed it ever again.

No idea about the wool though sorry.

I have two, one is a swandri and the other isn't but they're both 100% wool.

The one that isn't a Swandri has a label that says 'rinse in warm water, dry thoroughly, press with hot iron through damp cloth. Air thoroughly after washing and regularly after use'

The other one, which is a Swandri says 'shake clean, hand wash, max 40 degrees c, use approved wool detergent , do not bleach, do not spin, do not tumble dry, dry in shade, press with hot iron through cotton fabric'

HTH

I was told the reason it's best to avoid the plastic feel ones is because they can over heat the baby and cause them to sweat where as wool is breathable and won't alter their temp.

Thanks ladies.

Someone said that they could only be spot cleaned. But I'm obsessed with washing stuff before use, clothes etc. So I was just checking.

Hi
I've been using a wool one for the past 2 years and I've only washed it a few times. That may sound a bit nasty but it just seems to repel the moisture. I'm pretty obsessed with cleanliness and washing before use etc. My daughter is a heavy wetter at night too. I'm not sure which brand it is but pretty sure it's not a Swandri. I bought some lanolin woolcure at Nature Baby (Imse Vimse brand) for wool overnaps and I use it on the mattress protector too. It just gets soaked in the solution.
I've only experienced those plastic once at a friend's house and it seemed so sweaty.
