Topic: Sleeping only on me - not anymore! Posted: 18 February 2010 at 1:38pm |
I've been struggling (and failing!) to get DD to have her day sleeps anywhere other than on me. So after a couple of stressful weeks trying all kinds of ideas, I gave up and bought a moby when she was 4 weeks old. That meant she could sleep on me without it being a nuisance.
And today, I thought I'd try again to put her down. I cuddled her to sleep, layed her in her cot, and she stirred, but stayed asleep
I'm so glad I ignored all those people telling me I was creating a rod for my back. She's my baby, I did what felt right for us, and look - it worked!!

Yeah for you.. Rod for your own back has to be the most annoying thing people say to you isnt, I mean she has spent the last 9 month snuggled up warm with you .... Oh and "your spoiling him/her" Of course I am, its my child!
Must be so nice to be able to sit down with a cuppa and relax on your own for a bit
I cant wait for nb snuggles again.. they grow out of it so quick! Pfft sleep on mummy now? No way! Oh and would you mind leaving the room, I cant sleep with you watching me. LOL

Yay!!! My DS is similar, only cat naps pretty much unless I'm holding him but I figure I'd better make the most of the lovely snuggles with my little bubba anyway. Besides we've gotta do what works for us!!
Did she stay down for long?

Just over half an hour which is about normal for her seeing as I'd held her for 10 mins before putting her down.
But she then did a mammoth poo when she woke up and I've had to strip the whole cot. Still... if she'd been sleeping on me just then...

Yay that's great! It's so nice to realise sometimes that we can trust our instinct it comes to our own babies eh ;-) Can't wait until I get those newborn snuggles again! I also love that Bethany is still very snuggly and has been known to fall asleep on us (or close to it) if we're out past her sleep time... awww the memories!

I know a girl whos daughter wouldn't sleep any where but on her til she was 3 ,and because she was too scared that noise would wake her , she wouldn't text, or watch tv or read magazines for an hour or two while her daughter napped .
She probably would have benefited a lot from a wrap !
