I have my 12week scan on the 8th MArch, however I urgently need to be in the other end of the county indefinately (possibly months). last minute flights are $800 return so going back home for the scan would be impossible for us.
Does anyone have any idea if you can get scans in areas where you dont live? I know it is not a mus to have the scan, but I would prefer it. Would I contact my DHB or the other?
Also, what is the earliest they can do a nuctulal scan?
TIA

Its best done between 12-13 weeks. Either side of that the results become way less accurate.

eta: sorry can't help with the dhb thing, maybe your mw would know?

It would depend on where you are now and where you will be going to (you haven't said that in your post). Also how long you are going to for to the new location, if it is going to be for a while and you are going to need to get care in the new location then possible you could get the scan for nothing.

Double check - a friend of mine was in Alexandra when her 20 week one was due, she had it down there and she's from up here and it wasn't a problem.

I am in South Canterbury and will be going to hawke's Bay.
Like i say, I will be there for possibly months. But yes, good point, I will need care in another area, not just a scan.
I don't have a MW yet, in my area they do things very differently, and wouldnt usually get one till after 15 weeks. I guess I will call the hospital in HB and go from there, it is nice to know it is possible Bec.

Ok...anyone from Hawkes Bay here? do you contact a MW yourslef? Any recomendations of MW's?

The NT scan is usually done between 11-14 weeks. I had one done at just over 13weeks, it has to be done in the 1st trimester so the m/w told me.

Ring the DHB & see if they can do it before you go or xfer your care to another DHB till you return.

Ring the hospital where you are going to be and see if you can organise everything from where you are and go from there.

Hey,
I'm living in Hastings atm. I moved up here at around 24 weeks preggy. The hospital is really good about scans and stuff, (at least with me) there is also pacific radiology though you have to pay for it. As for midwives I'm fairly sure that the earlier contact the better. It was really hard for me to find a midwife though the one I have is wonderful if you want a number.
Kiara is 3 and Teagan is 2, now we're expecting our long awaited 3rd!

I'll get back to to Kalimirella. I am comfortable not having a MW, I went without until I was 30 weeks preg last time. i am going to try the hospital tomorrow, and if that's a no go I will just go for pacific radiology, paying is no biggy. Do they do 3D scans there....I am so keen for one, only ever had 2D ones.
