Today is my 5th wedding anniversary and I wanted to share with all who are interested ....

We have little money so decided not to buy anything for each other this year, even tho it is a special one.

So I decided to write my husband a short letter/poem and you are more than welcome to have a read of our 'love story'. It follows in the next post.

I arrived at work this morning to find the most amazing present from my husband for our anniversary sitting on my desk, you will see photos of it in the third post - it is incredible and you won't believe what its made of or that he made the entire thing himself!

5 years …
5 years!!
5 years??

Can it only be 5 years??

From the day I first set eyes on you, leaping with fright as a bmx whizzed by and nearly took me off my feet, I knew I would know you some day.

I don’t recall the date … we were 12.

From the day I was first introduced to you, with our families – you with a face full of pie and me, with far too many butterflies to eat a thing.

I was so consumed by you that the date was irrelevant … we were only just teenagers.

From the day I realised I was in love with you while you helped me prepare for a ball with a young man I didn’t love half as much, and I knew I shouldn’t love you that much because we were ‘just friends’.

The date was not as important as trying to hide how much I loved you … we were barely 16.

From the day we both realised there was no going back but that, however our relationship developed and changed, we would forever be friends – nothing in all the world could change that.

That day was 17 August 1996 … we were 16.

That was the day of a first kiss and a dance together by moonlight – no ball with any other boy could compare with that one moment.

That day was the day I thought it was real, it was right and it was meant to be.

x o x o x o x o x o x o x o x o x o x o x o x o x o x o x o x o x o x o x o x o x o x o x o x o x o x o x

From the moment I looked up from my careful steps on a lush lawn in white heels, to see you at the end of the isle – tears streaming down your face, I felt my love for you double in an instant.

The day was warm, and the rain held off until after the cake was cut.

The day was filled with love, laughter, family and friends, excitement of the moment and every other moment to come for the rest of our lives – it was beautiful, perfect, everything I had ever hoped and dreamed it would be.

That day was 5 March 2005 … we were 25.

That was the day of a first kiss as husband and wife and an evening ten-pin bowl – every bit as comparable to a dance by moonlight.

That day was the day I was convinced it was real, it was right and it was forever.

We may have been married 5 years today, but I feel as though I have been married to the love of my life for 14 and known him forever. Every day has been special and treasured – yes, even the days we have not seen eye-to-eye.

You are an amazing friend, partner, husband and father – thank you for being that person, the person I will love for the rest of my life.

Your wife

The gift ...

This is life-size, approx 50cm tall. Entire origami made from differing shades and prints of red paper. The stems are all made from florists tape and YES the vase is also made from paper!! The only item not made by my husband with his own hands is the chocolate flower in the centre
