Topic: Rental wanted North Shore Posted: 10 March 2010 at 6:17pm |
Heya, I have been looking forever and everywhere.....
Please if anyone has or knows of a single level fenced house on the shore for less than $400 a week, 3 bed with a garage pleeease let me know!
Stairs just arent working for my little adventurer - who has a fat lip from her latest escapade this morning
We dont smoke or have pets (except fish) and pay our rent a month in advance
Thanks

Are you still looking up here? Or are you wanting the Shore for definite?
There have been a few rentals up here for around $380.. did you want me to check them out first?

All I can say is good luck (and I mean that in a nice way not a nasty one). We live in Takapuna which admittedly is a more pricey area but we have a 3 bed fully fenced single level house with a garage (not internal access) and it is $450/week and I'm positive we're going to get a rent increase come May because around here this place would be about $500.
It's not a flash place either. Old Brick and Tile unit, cold as anything in winter and a bit damp, no view and a shared driveway.
So I've been looking lately to see what's about and apart from the dodgy bits of Glenfield and Northcote you won't find much under $400.
But I really do hope you find something.
ETA: Actually you might find something out Beachhaven/Birkdale way or even Birkenhead. But it depends on whether you have to commute to town or not because it's a bugger to get from there to town.

This is exactly how we ended up in the ends of the earth - (Gulf Harbour)!
Rent prices are just so steep on the shore that we ended up moving further and further up this way. We started in Birkenhead a few years back paying $350 for 2 bdrms! Now we pay $450 for a gorgeous new 4 bdrm, 1 level, fully fenced house here, and although hubby has to travel to the shore everyday for work we just can't bring ourselves to pay the same amount or more for a pretty average house there
Good luck though - I'm sure you will find something eventually

wow, Hi
We used to live in gulf harbour, not for a cheap house, but Because I had to for work, but then we moved into town, had a city apartment and all that jazz, then decided baby time, moved to birkenhead.
Are currently in birkdale, in a mews settings not a complex, but almost, its only $355 a week!! which is awesome, was great when I was working to catch the ferry and DH now rides a motorbike (his 40 th birthday present) but its not child friendly at all, but more child friendly than the last place which is how we ended up here
Bobbie - its sooo easy to get to town from here!!!
I have a real issue with paying mortgage prices for a rental, but now that Im making babies and studying again we wont buy another home for 4 or 5 years
anyway thanks for your imput - I have til july when our next child is due - so if everyone can keep an eye/ear out Id be soo grateful
Thanks

Gotta admit we'll probably move to Gulf Harbour if the rents go up. The prices there are so much better. Just I'll lose my CG and Plunket Nurse and Rowan's Kindy.
DH works on the shore though so it will be a pain to commute compared to now (10 minutes drive away)
Is there a ferry or something out that way Rasberry Jam? I thought you'd have to do the commute down Onewa Rd.

The ferry goes to birkenhead wharf and northcote point. Straight into the city, I worked at the bottom of queen street so perfect! I have never driven to work. Prior to that I worked on quay street so got the gulf harbour ferry
www.fullers.co.nz
Id love to move to bayswater or devonport but not til we buy i couldnt justify rent

Don't worry, there are lots of lovely people up here - including me
There is a fairly nice one in Glenfield today on Trade Me for $400. In Tamahere Drive?? Not sure where that is though.

Wow.
Don't think I could ever live in Auckland. Renting is more expensive than our mortgage!
Stuff that No wonder we get a lot of NI'ers coming down here buying houses than using the equity!
