Just wondered if anyone has had this and can tell me if it is normal. I am only in twenty seventh week so wouldn't have thought I would get braxton hicks contractions yet? Two days ago and then today I have had REALLY sore period pain feelings (I haven't had that since I have been pregnant). It was really sore in my tummy and lower back and lasted for about five mins. (2 mins reasonably intense) I don't think my stomach was tighter but maybe I was just so aware of the bad period pain feeling that I didn't notice?
Do you think this is normal? I hate ringing my midwife to ask questions but do you think I should or have other people had this too, and at only about 27 weeks?
Thanks for any advice.

You can get them at any time really I think. I started getting them with Andrew from about 25 weeks and continued through till I ws in labour having the real things. You should be seeing your midwife in the next 2 weeks (as you are coming up to fortnightly visits). If they continue today and are closer together then ring her, otherwise just wait till your meeting with her and advise her you have been having them and tell her what the pain is like.
I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

I started getting them reasonably early too, from about 24 weeks onwards I think - sounds normal to me, BUT if it gets really bad (the pain) or you are really worried, ring your midwife and get it checked out.

I've been getting them for a few weeks now too, but I never had them with Maya at all so it's a bit new to me too. If they get too intense, have a chat to your m/w just to reassure yourself.

Sounds like what I've been having...I only found out they were Braxton Hicks when I was hooked up on the monitor on Thursday night...I think I have been having them for a while and just didn't know it.

I must admit I don't think that I have had any BH yet - well not that I am aware of anyway.

Heya, apparently we are meant to get BH as early as 6wks preg, but they are painless ones and start to be felt later on. Im not sure if its the same for everyone but thats what a website said.
I have been getting them for quite a while now, maybe 10wks or so. Some can get pretty intense and ive noticed that as I get further along the more they happen and more tense they are getting! But I cant say I notice period pain like feeling.

I had BH from 20 weeks with my first, but only in the last couple of weeks with my second. They are no cause for concern and also make no difference when you deliver (bother! ) but I would check with your midwife if the pain persists.

I had BH very early on in pregnancy number one, but they were never painful, just irritating.   This time round I have had none.
