Topic: Can I lick the bowl? Posted: 23 March 2010 at 7:12pm |
When I've finished baking? I knooow this sounds stupid.
But baking= raw egg.
And the BEST part about baking is licking the bowl and utensils clean...
Raw cookie dough anyone?? Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I suspect not - if it contains raw egg. Yeah its the best bit about being the baker, I personally wouldn't take the risk.

I felt the same when I was making Pavs as they are virtually just egg white, so hubby was happy he got the whole bowl to himself!

I think that the risk is very low, in saying that though when I was pg I didn't lick the bowl just in case. So loving it now that I can!!

i did alot of baking while pregnant with emmett and i too love eating left over cookie dough, but didnt want to risk it with the raw egg so i just snuck a bit of dough before i added the egg.

I've done it quite a bit accidentally on purpose All good so far *knock on wood* but I always have very fresh organic eggs from the farmer's market. Don't know if that makes a difference!

I would do it, and did do it. I also ate ham, soft cheeses, etc and I didn't make anything piping hot either before I ate it.
Some won't, some will. It all comes down to what you feel comfortable doing.

I sometimes chose a recipe simply because it had no eggs and i could eat it raw.
But i didn't eat any that had egg in.

I wouldn't. I'm a sucker for raw cookie dough too. I've started making shortbread instead because it doesn't have egg

I did, it never even occurred to me that I shouldn't. Clever me.
I think it's quite a low risk since the eggs would be fresh and have only just come out of the fridge, but if you aren't comfortable with it then it's only a few months out of your bowl-licking life

I always did. I figure its only a little bit thats left and if I cut out everything you can't have, then I wouldn't eat at all!
