Topic: HELP! Getting task bars back... Posted: 07 April 2010 at 12:50pm |
Chelsea pressed a button on my laptop and now the top bar thingee (where you type in URLs or click "Favourites" etc is not there! Argh! Help! If I move the mouse up the top of the screen it pops down, but then goes back up again when I move the mouse again. The task bar down the bottom also isn't there, but I have to minimise Internet Explorer to be able to see that!
TIA

When you hover over the bottom task bar and it appears have you tried right clicking and ticking the 'lock the taskbar' item that appears.

The bottom one doesn't pop up at all, but I just checked it (after minimising the internet) and it has Lock Taskbar checked... Hmm!
Just tried it with the top one and clicked Lock but it still went away again how silly!

And this is copy and pasted from yahoo answers coz I'm too lazy to re type!
The taskbar cannot disappear but it can hide.
First make sure you are not using a Program in full screen mode which would hide the taskbar.
In Internet explorer press the F11 key to unzoom from the full screen mode.
Check whether the Task bar is simply too skinny to see.
Check the edge of the screen for a thin grey strip. Point the mouse at the strip, and it changes into an up- down pointing arrow ( or a left-right pointing arrow if the strip is on the side of the screen). Press the mouse button and drag the mouse toward the centre of the screen. As you drag, the taskbar grows fatter. Release the mouse when the T/B is the proper size.
The taskbar may be automatically hidden. Which is an option. To check this. Point the mouse at to where the T/B normally lives and wait. The T/B should pop right up.
If not, try pointing it at the other 3 edges of the screen to see if its been moved thetr.
If the T/B pops up you can switch off its auto hide feature.
Right click the start button>properties>taskbar. Remove check mark by the item labelled Auto-hide the taskbar.
While your at it, click to select the item labeled Keep the T/B on top of other windows and than click on OK.
You can also lock the T/B.
Ensure there is a check mark by the item labeled Lock the T/B.

I will have to remember that too. My DD did something once where the screen rotated around, thought that was a good one to do to DH, although now i can't remember how to change that one back.
