Ok so I thought I was so clever making nappies but so far they have not been great...I used the new conceptions patern to make them ...
They are three sizes, and my little boy has outgrown the smalls but he is getting leaks in the mediums..ok he got leaks in the smalls too!
At first I thought it was coz his legs were to skinny as there were gaps in the leg holes (still not snug) but have realised that what also happens is the back bit that comes under the front to be snapped gets wet from the inside of the nappy.....and this then spreads even tho I use polyester pul.....
So what the heck do I do..I have made quite a few tho I am going to try making one with the snaps reversed to make it a front snap...I am so puzzled as to why this style would be out there now???? Do side snaps work best for girls??
Is there something I can do to prevent the leaks or am I going to have to resort to an overnap for now??
Oh and another random question...if you were feeding and baby fell asleep but had a leak woud you change the napp or just put a flat down and stick bubs in bed hoping for the best??
i could only find a new conceptions side snapping fitted nappY - is that the one?
check out greenbeans for some great free nappy patterns... i dont sew but the ones i have mainly heard about area a button boo and the wee weka. maybe they will work better for you.
Do you mean the lining - used mostly microsuede but some microfleece...
Yeah that side snapping fitted nappy is the one, i adjusted the pattern to allow it to be pockets...maybe that is the problem, I should try doing one as an all in one and see if it leaks...though I don't think it is the inserts that are the problem, more that the outside of the nappy comes inside with a side snapping nappy...
i would try one of the free pocket patterns from greenbeans... then at least you can see what the differences are and come up with a solution... i wouldnt have thought that any of the PUL would go inside the nappy.
Yes will try the wee weka ones and see how that goes...my main reason for using the side snapping ones is I liked the sized rather than osfa....
I wonder if I had DS 'bits' poking upwards sometimes and so the top front of the nappy gets saturated hence the back bit that comes around gets all wet...is rather confusing I know...I am not good at describing!
I don't think is an issue with lack of inserts coz sometimes I will change his nappy and give him a feed and leaks come out his legs hahahhaha...not so much now his legs are fatter tho
