I am looking at upgrading my car to one that will fit 3 carseats along the beck seat (preparing for the future!). Unfortunately we are limited to hatchbacks as we have a short garage! We currently have a '96 corolla hatch with towball, it fits with maybe 30cm clearance total.

Towball is nice, but optional, would prefer bootspace! Does anyone know of a hatchback that will fit 3 carseats? PS I'm a big fan of Toyota's, any of those work?

Nope....Only one is the Camry & that's too long for you.

What about something like a Kia, they have some short SUV type vehicles that look wide?

Take a tape measure with you. You need at least 150cm wide.

Oh newer cars don't have such a long nose on them anymore either.

We have a Mazda 6 that takes 3 carseats. When we were looking at buying we were told the hatchback versions (SP20 etc) were the same width as the Mazda 6 but shorter. We didnt ever test it so could be wrong, but may be worth a check??
Good luck!!

Oh and when we were buying we only had 1 kidlet, so we took the cars for test drive to a baby shop and asked if we could try fitting 3 seats into the back seat. They were surprisingly accommodating, and it gave us a perfect idea of how much space we needed!!

You could look at the Suzuki Aerio or the Suzuki SX4? They are hatchbacks on the bigger side.
