I'm wanting to get my 4 year old started on Lego. I'm after a starter basic set. Does anyone have any recommendations or hints as to what size etc is best. Also anyone know of any places that sell it a bit cheaper or have sales often? Anyone know if it is much cheaper in Oz?

Thanks!

lego is horrible - it gets everywhere and it really hurts if you stand on it! You should be able to pick some up on special, just keep an eye out on farmers, warehouse etc... there will be a sale eventually.

I always get the kids to play with the lego on a sheet that way it is easy to clean up afterwards. They quickly learn that lego only gets played with on the sheet.
As for sales I don't know of any.

Thanks everyone.

I will keep a lookout on trademe. I did see the lego on flybuys - might get that one too.

Other than that I guess I will keep a look out for the sales...

I bought off trademe and now Reef buys it whenever he saves up birthday money/pocket money.. he LOVES it adn I think its' an awesome toy.. he is constantly creating new things and telling me what all the different parts are for!!! :)
we have a big box for loose bricks, and then like a tool box (big too) that he can put individual bits and peices in or peices he is working on :)
