Has anyone had experience of leaking waters, and how you tell that that is what it is??

I started to 'leak' slightly as I arrived home and struggled to get the door unlocked ( I hadn't had the urge to 'go' prior to that). I managed to stop the leak a little by holding on, but I couldn't stem it completely had lost a bit more fluid before I eventually got to the loo.

I would have probably just thought I really need to get onto the pelvic floor exercises!!, except that the fluid on my pants was clear and didn't smell like urine at all.

I've rung the midwife and she is getting me to monitor it, however was just wondering if anyone had had any experiences of leaking waters??

Mine went at 39 weeks, but I lost my plug about 4 hours before.

I stood up and there was a little gush which shocked me because I didn't have to go toilet!

Mine was also a bit pinky because it was my 'show' as well...

Umm from what I remember I couldn't hold it like pee, and it was a steady leak of just half my waters (mw broke the other half), it kept sorta coming out in little bursts...

From what I remember it smelled kinda like semen... But that is only what I remember...

Monitor it on a pad, see how long it takes to fill it up, if it's rather quick I would ring the mw and they can do tests? Although because mine was pink the mw knew it was my waters and she didn't think I would make the following week to 40 so no test for me.

I know that you can have a leak and the waters can replenish themselves but I think you need a fair bit of bed rest for that, 31 weeks is really, really early! I had a false labour at 32!

There was a good point in the first thread Peanut mentioned, can you feel where it's coming from? I could feel it wasn't pee (even though I hoped it was).

This is what my MW last time told me to do if I didn't know if it was my waters or not
Put a pad in ,lie down for 10 mins , if its your waters , the pad will be pretty damp by the time you get up

Thanks for sharing your experiences/advice.

I've had no more leaking anything for a few hours and had another chat with the midwife and she thinks it was most likely a 'wee' accident.

Will keep an eye on it for the next little while though.

Shellgirl - my waters went with my second pregnancy and I didn't even realise until I was in labour and my midwife couldn't break them! Eeek, anyway, in hindsight, I realised I'd had a very, very slow leak and often smelt a kind of mousey smell (embarrasingly I thought it was the stupid mice that had come back to our house).     With my 4th pregnancy, my waters went at 21 weeks, I knew this time but the midwives at the hospital thought everything was fine. Hmm, goes to show that mums know best. Anyway if you're concerned your midwife can refer you to the womens acute assessment at Wgtn hospital for them to double check.
