Topic: please explain this pain?? Posted: 21 June 2010 at 3:31pm |
I am 33weeks and rather big bigger than I was at full term last pregnancy. I am struggling with this rediculously uncomfortable pain like a ripping/pulling sensation in the ?muscle? to the upper (about a hands width above) my belly button to the right. Its an area where I can quite often feel a bit of babys body (dunno which part) like foot or bum or something poking out? What is this annoying (Sometimes unbearable) pain? It feels as though the baby is coming out via ripping a hole in my tummy (alien style)!

The area you are describing sounds like the area where your gallbladder is, I'd get it checked out jic you have gallstones. They tend to appear or flare up during pregnancy.
I had the pain all through my pregnancy but it wasn't until I had a gallstone attack at 18-19 weeks that left me vomiting and unable to breathe that I realised it wasn't normal and then had a scan to confirm gallstones!
Check out this link and see if it's kinda what you are experiencing.

I've had pain (almost unbearable) in a similar area recently and there is some thought it might be related to the liver, so I'm having a few tests to check it out. You should check it out with your LMC a.s.a.p as can indicate other issues.

My was an internal pain, but I would still probably have a chat to your LMC as there maybe something else they are aware of. Good luck with sorting it out

Mine felt like major back ache at first? but in that area, sorta like I had pulled a muscle under my ribs...
Definitely talk to the mw, or she might tell you to see your gp.

Hi Ladies
Sounds a bit like what I've been having also. Its a really sharp pain that only goes away if I put a wheat bag (hard to balance when you can't lie on your tummy) or laying on the floor. My MW wants to check my liver also so getting a blood test this week then go from there. It also seems to come through to the front at times, just above my belly.

H8r8ford I had this exact pain when I was pregnant from about 28 weeks and it was AWFUL! I really feel for you
I talked to my mw and she sent me for a scan to make sure all was ok in there but told me it was probably muscle pain and referred me to the physio at the hospital.

Is it kind of like a stretching/stitch feeling??
I had AWFUL AWFUL ligament pain when pregnant with my first, I remember being doubled over in pain, I couldnt even move and I was so scared something was really wrong.
I took panadol and put head on my side and it went away, I got it a few times. I asked my MW and she said it sounded like ligamnet pain.
Its called round ligament pain and hurts like a mofo!

Just thout I'd update this thread, I had blood tests done last week which checked my liver function and its come back fine. I'm just putting it down to "normal" pregnancy pains.
