 Topic: Kiya’s "special" late night

I let Kiya stay up late tonight, to watch a movie on Cartoon Network all the way through... so, instead of going to bed at 7pm, she got to stay up until "Barbie of Swan Lake" finished at 7:45pm... for reasons that escape me there were ad breaks every 7 or 8 minutes, so she happily cleaned her teeth and got into her pjs during a couple of those...
I was tucking her into bed afterwards and she asked why it was alright for her to stay up so late tonight. I said "It's not a school night, you don't have school tomorrow so you can sleep in if you need to."
Kiya: "Mummy, why shouldn't I stay up late if I have school the next day?"
Me: "Because you don't want to be tired at school, do you?"
Kiya: "No" (a few moments thought) "Mummy, I think its a good idea if I don't stay up this late on a school night. I'll see you in the morning, but I'm going to have a sleep-in. I'm really tired. Good night."

Maya stays up 'late' on Sunday nights to watch the Zoo. She's not so good at going to bed afterwards tho...

So much for the sleep-in... she woke up at 7:20 like normal!
Oh well, when Josiah goes down for his afternoon sleep, she can have a nap too... and that might just give me a chance to "reaquaint" myself with Nat since he gets back today (he's been in Wellington since Thursday)

i laughed when i read that you let your kids stay up late to watch the zoo, cause we are only just getting the kids out of the bath when the zoo is on...

Kinda, Deborah, but it didn't quite go to plan... as by the time Nat actually got home it was just after 5pm and both the kids were back up and around.
