Ouch, poor wee girls!
Someone said recently, and it stuck with me, that a baby having a cup of boiling liquid accidentally tipped on them (like a cup of tea or coffee) would be the equivalent (in terms of surface area burnt) of an adult having a 40 gallon drum tipped on them. I haven't checked the maths but it's a sobering thought

Oh how sad. First thing I'm getting DH to do when he gets home from work is to screw our oven into the wall.

I still only ever use the back elements of the stove, like my mum taught me and keep the handles pointed towards the wall so that little hands can't grab them.

Yup me too. And it might be easy for me to say this given I only have one kid to look after at the mo, but JJ would never be in a position where he could open the oven door and climb up to the stove, at the very least either the cooking would be being attended or he would be (and we generally keep the kitchen door closed as an added measure).

Poor wee girls!
She's still absolutely gorgeous though, isn't she?
It is so easy to get complacent and think that because your child has reached an age where they understand the things you tell them, that you don't need to worry so much any more.
These things can still happen so easily though, kids are curious and they are fast and even though they might understand a warning when you tell it to them they might not remember it days or weeks later.

Oh my goodness, that breaks my heart.
I have seen a friend of my brothers get burns to 80% of his body and he was in a right state, it was awful as an adult, I can't even begin to imagine what that would be like for a child. Or as a mother to see that happen to your child.

thats what I hate about our kitchen as Megan has to go through the kitchen to go outside.
our next house we buy I want it so to go outside you go through the lounge a proper front door not through the kitchen and laundry

You have to go through our kitchen and laundry to get to our back yard to Jasmine. We do have a door from lounge to the front yard, but that is so close to street, so Leah will be taking back door to the back yard.

I remeber when I was little my mum had a metal thing that was attached to the oven that made it so that the top of the oven was not reachable unless you were quite tall. Only adults coudl put things on the stove and turn it on. We also had a lock on the oven door, you had to pull a lever at the same time as opening the oven door (hard for little ones)
Have never seen anythign like that in NZ though, I woudl buy it if I could find it.
