I've had two friends recently that were induced at 41 weeks. Interested to know other peoples experiences... length and strength of labour etc?
What's the process?

I had the gel at 7pm, was up all night with cramps (which of course I thought were contactions).
Had the gel again at 8am. Nothing happened.
Got waters broken at noon.
Contactions arrived good and hard.
Had meconium in the waters at about 2pm so had to be monitered.
Got the drip and epi at about 3pm (epi didn't work).
Jody arrived at 5:30pm

Got induced at 42 weeks, I had had mild contractions for 2 days that were irregular. Got gel at 7pm and was up all night with contractions- very mild, was 4cm at 8am when they put me on the synto drip, immeditaly speed up alot, but bubs was posterior so they were hoping she would turn. Went on the gas then as the back pain was awful. They couldnt break my waters as bubs was so far engaged. Each hour they incresed the drip and the contractions got closer and stronger, at lunch I was 6cm but by 2pm was back down to 4cm, bubs hadnt turned and was making my cervix swell by her pushing so hard, had to have a c-sect. If she hadnt been posterior it would have been great (i think lol)

got induced with gel at like 6pm..had to stay overnight in assessment unit.. with 4 others but in separate rooms:) I was 38 weeks all the rest were 41...

didnt work though i had mild backache.. re gelled in morning and then it was all on 12 in early labour and 3 in established labour and by 830 he was born(by emergency c section )..

i didnt think it was much worse than my natural labour with Liam but in hindsight it was stronger but no worse exactly.. my friend who recently got induced found no difference. (both mine posterier as well)
Mum to two amazing boys!

i was induced at 41+5, i was already 3cm, no contractions what so ever, no gel for me, got right to breaking my waters (8am) I was now 4 cm, 2 hours later no contractions (i asked for extra time, drip is normally started after 1 hour, still 4cm), drip started, I was at 4 contractions in 10mins by midday (still 4cm). I couldnt feel them, 3pm they were getting ouchy, 5pm pethadine (still 4cm), 8pm I was still 4cm, gave me an epi as I was either going to need a c section or some sleep, 10pm still 4cm and call was made for a csect. DD arrived at 0018 at 41+6, I was still 4cm when I was in theatre. DD was 4.570kgs, and her head was posterior. I still swear if her head had been tucked in I would have birthed her naturally...

If I had been progressing I could have handled hte contractions, they def didnt get as strong and hard fast like I thought they were going to. It wasnt as bad as I had heard and been imagining.

Good luck!

Hi, my waters broke at 39 weeks at roughly 9.15pm, by 10am contractions weren't regular so went to hosp to be induced but was 6cm so mw held off and broke rest of my waters and I jumped in tub, by 4pm I was 7cm as water slowed my contractions, anyway had a epi and started on syntocin and by 7pm was fully dilated and epi had worn off so started pushing and she was born at 8.08pm.

That reminds me mon...

Lily started to get a little distressed about 50mins into pushing as I was getting tired and had heart burn and hadn't eaten so each contraction her heart rate would drop a little so I had to really push hard, mw said if she hadn't have come out by 10 past she would have got me prepped for csect but that was her last, last resort. She pooed her first poo as she was born, but apgars were 9 and 10.

Hi

Induced at 38 weeks due to gestational diabetes - gel at 8.30am, nothing happened, gel at 2.30pm nothing happened - got niggles at 8.00pm - like period pain, 10pm realised I was in labour and had my show, 11.00pm my waters broke naturally 1.31am DD born, so extremely quick labour - my notes say 2 hours 56 mins established labour and all done with just gas
she did have the head thing on to moniter her heart rate as she showed a couple of signs of distress - the think it was because she was coming so quick,

Hey,

I was induced on my due date because of borderline high blood pressure for the whole pregnancy. And I starting swelling up :P

Anyway went in at 7:30am, got gel around 9am, then again at around 1pm, had niggles after the 2nd lot but nothing much happening, I stayed 1cm the whole time so at 10pm they gave me pethadine to sleep through the night intending to restart the next morning.
At 1am I got up to go to the loo, got back on bed, waters broke and then full on labour, checked at 1:50am was 4cm, midwife called, at 3am I was fully dilated, but I had been for a while cause I was holding back on pushing and boy is that hard. Anyway she was born at 3:50am, so pretty quick and all natural, no pain relief. (the midwife said we would discuss it after she checked me but then I was pushing and it didn't get brought up again :(
Kiara is 3 and Teagan is 2, now we're expecting our long awaited 3rd!
